Need tips on reaching rhine falls from zurich. We have toddler and physically challenged elderly with us for the travel, so walking long distance is not possible.

Also, any must sees or must dos nearby rhine falls

Take the train, the station is right beside the waterfalls and there is a lift to take you up and down to the visitor centre.
Excellent restaurant at top too Schloss Laufen

The path to the falls is not wheelchair accessible, as far as I remember. Plus, a section of it was under renovations when we visited. Best to take the boat and see it from the water (much better view imo), and call in advance to make arrangements.

If you're travelling by car, approach on the Neuhausen (Schaffhausen) side. There are parking spaces for disabled visitors right down by the water level, near Schlössli Worth (probably an even better restaurant than the Schloss Laufen one!).


If travelling by train, I recommend that you go to the Schloss Laufen train station. You can take the lifts down part of the way, but not to the lowest level (so can't get to the boats). If you go to the Neuhausen train station, there are a lot of steps to get down to the main viewing area on the Neuhausen side, or you need to cross the bridge to Flurlingen and go along the path to through the forest to get to Schloss Laufen (very difficult for a wheelchair).

You should also note that there is a section only accessible with stairs. The elevator doesn't take you everywhere

As with most things there are two sides. There is the Schaffhausen side and there is the Zurich side.

For things to do around the area you could visit shaufhausen which is a nice town, the Gutenhof is a lovely old Swiss building with a bar and restaurant on the Rhine.

Also worth a look is the country side and vineyards around Hallau
