August 1st celebration

Which places would you recommend to visit on August 1st to participate National Day celebration (outside of Zurich)?
Any town or place where celebration is particularly exceptional?

Re: August 1st celebration

What is the law regarding fireworks? Specifically about date time and duration. Can I pop fireworks every 5 minutes all day today untill August 2nd?

Yes, why not? How fun it will be having all the local peoples pets non-stop on edge for an extended period

Feel like crap after being woken by thunder clap fireworks. My neighbour though we were being invaded for a moment.

Whatever you do, Schöni Ersti August folks.

Love the neighbours downstairs who really know how to party. No, I am not sarcastic.

Re: August 1st celebration

A bit late for this year. But thought I would post a reply anyway if its searched for in future years.

https://www.brunch.ch/

Is a great website to find a farmer that does the 1 August farmers brunch. The traditional thing to do.

In normal times (pre and I hope post 'Covid years') the afternoon and evening of the 31st July - in Basel on the Rhine has a very nice party and celebration. And more recently we have been going to the Rhinefalls also on the 31st for the firework display which is an incredible backdrop for such an event.

Uetliberg and the hotel up there seems to run a party as well. The program this year looked ok, but it had a fairly high price tag
