Luggage

I will be traveling around Switzerland with hubby and 83-year-old Mother for a 7 day round trip around the country. Any suggestions of a general itinerary seeing Zurich (and Lichtenstein), Zermott, Geneva, Lucerne areas? Is Interlaken a 'must-do"? Thank you for the feedback as we plan our week long 'circle'.

Re: Luggage

Make sure you purchase adequate travel insurance as most USA policies do not cover you, while abroad.

Enjoy!

Re: Luggage

Welcome to the Forum. There are plenty of ideas here in our Travel area, so I'll leave you to search.

BUT - why do you refer to your husband and mother as luggage (thread title)?

I wouldn't recommend either Vaduz (in Liechtenstein) or Interlaken. Neither is a "must do". Both consist mainly (and by this I mean what is centrally accessible, the main, obvious places) of a single, central road lined on either side with shops selling postcards and Swiss trinkets and overpriced Tourist-trap restaurants. This applies to Interlaken much more than Vaduz.

Vaduz is worth visiting if you are interested in philately, or if you know you'll particularly like the art works in the gallery.

Interlaken is excellent for those who wish to use it as a starting-point for trips on the coach ("Postauto") up into the surrounding mountains, and to take hikes, and do parachute jumps, etc.

Bear in mind that Switzerland involves quite a bit of walking, whether you use the most excellent public transport, or whether you hire a car. Therefore, I'd encourage you to pack (since your thread title is "Luggage") your main luggage in wheely-suitcases, and as little as possible thereof.
Taking along a day-pack (backpack) with a scrunchy jacket, a bottle of water, a snack, a scarf and your sunglasses can provide comfort. Wear your most comfortable shoes.

Re: Luggage

doropfiz - Wonderful info and helps with our decision to 'drop' Interlaken at this point. We want to do Vaduz in Liechtenstein - mainly to add another country to our list. Would you suggest the route of Basel/Zurich/Vaduz/St Moritz/Zermatt/Geneva/Basel OR Basel/Zurich/Vaduz/Lucerne/Zermatt/Geneva/Basel ?? Thanks

Re: Luggage

There's more to see and do in Luzern compared to Saint Moritz. If you're going to Zermatt, consider taking the train to Gornergrat, the views from 3000+ metres can be breathtaking.
