| | Emergency travel Zurich-Cardiff
Hello forum friends,
I have a colleague who needs to get from Zurich to Cardiff in the next few days because her mum had a stroke...
I know she could also go from Bristol, Basel etc. Does anyone have some good ideas.
In the meantime, I'll keep looking...

Thank you. The AMS connection does seem the best... or (knowing about airports) London city and then the train/car.

I looked at a similar trip the other day and Zürich - Heathrow with Swiss and then car was best in the end. I flew through Heathrow recently and it was a doddle |

If your friend hasn't already booked, there are cheaper options than KLM, particularly if she's only taking hand luggage. Also, as others have said, take a look at the direct flights to Bristol from Geneva.
Hope everything works out for your friend. Like many people here, I know how horrible it is to travel in these circumstances.

All sounds very nice, but the easiest is a flight to Heathrow, and there are plenty plenty of flights from any airport in Switzerland to Heathrow and then rent a car, straight down the M4 to Cardiff.
It might not the the absolute cheapest way to do it , but if it is an emergency, do you really want to count the cost ?
Multiple tickets/airlines......great as long as all goes to plan but if first airline is delayed, the second airline doesn't care and won't reimburse you or re-schedule you automatically, they may give a gesture of good will.
The delay can be considerable and expensive to buy a ticket last minute.
Fly to Heathrow, rent a car, drive to EXACTLY where you want in Cardiff (as once you at bus/train station you still need a taxi ride to your final destination) easiest, quickest, guaranteed.

About 90 minutes drive time.

But are their so many flights to Birmingham ?
Heathrow there are plenty, you miss one or get delayed, high chance you'll have another flight withing an hour or so ?

Car hire from Heathrow, Luton or Gatwick can easily waste an hour.
