Ideas for Entertaining 30-year-old in Zurich

Howdy Everyone, Happy Spring!

I find myself at a bit of a loss, trying to come up with suggestions for a younger family member about how to spend an exciting few days based in Zurich in April.

We will likely do daytime things more my speed, such as hiking Uetliberg and Rigi, maybe even a day to Titlis, but she is a bit of a thrill junkie who thrives on mixing with the locals and experiencing the "behind the scenes" life of wherever she travels. I, unfortunately, am much more of a totally boring homebody who likes to hike.

Any suggestions on what to do either in Zurich or for day trips, for someone who loves investigating culture, but also claims to get bored easily? Paragliding Pilatus and a hot tub fondue have already been suggested, as has Frau Gerold's Garten, and these seem to be just the right sort of thing.

Other thoughts? Ideas about where to go for club dancing or other vigorous exercise novelties? Good yoga classes, glacier viewing spots, tobogganing ... bungee jumping, however, is something I will not suggest.

Your input will be much appreciated! Thanks,
Upa (who is getting tired just thinking about all these things)

A nice game of Hornussen, or a spot of Hoselupf, perhaps?

Hiking is totally adrenaline. No bears but nude alpinists make up for them. Just tell her to forget the FB Olympics for a few days and enjoy all the local wholesomness. Some gig in some old Zh squat will do after the mountains? Trying Swiss German is pretty adventurous for me.

Slacklining? In good weather they can often be found down at Zürihorn near the China Garden and will usually let onlookers join in.

Attend an event, or just drop by to talk and to listen, in one of the squats (occupied building) in Zürich, for example http://www.kochareal.ch.

Re: Ideas for Entertaining 30-year-old in Zurich

W0W, what great ideas! Thanks so much, most of these might be really perfect. My guest will be totally into some of these experiences, I am sure. And I am also so impressed with the number of responses given between 21:00 and 02:00

Any specific recommendations for drop in yoga classes? Or hands-on things to do that you found really memorable?

Thank you!

For yoga (and painting, woodwork, pottery and many other options), have a look at https://gz-zh.ch.
Type your searchword, in German, at "Angebote finden".

A guided tour through the Old Town, or any other tour of all the tours. Perhaps a foxtrail through Zürich is to the liking of both of you.

Something for both of you - hiking and thrilling - a 5 hour hike (midnight to 5am on Saturday or Sunday morning) up and down Langstrasse.

Hiltl? Just kidding, but not. I love it there. Especially the old location. A lot of locals (and some expats but in Zurich that's how it goes). Gets kinda frisky weekend nights.

Rietberg Museum? Ok, not exactly crazy, but certainly one of a kind in the world. And in April, even better.
http://www.rietberg.ch/de-ch/home.aspx

Tales Bar - serious cocktails, stays open late. A-w-e-s-o-me. Like really.Old school.
http://www.tales-bar.ch/

Did anybody say Gonzo? I think you can go to Gonzo if you're over 30.

I certainly have.

Bar 3000
Must wear black beanie to get in. Music is often nice if you're into electronic danceable varieties.
