I need help with route around Rütli/Brunnen

While I will be staying in Schwyz, a friend is coming to visit me from Germany for a couple of days. Originally, we were to do some mountain hiking but because of a fall, I cracked a rib and I need to review things down a bit.

As this friend does not know the region at all, I thought of taking a boat from Brunnen to the Rütli, but I would like to know if it is possible to walk from the Rütli to Bauen (I had done Rütli-Seelisberg years ago, but I need a route going down, not up).
If not, is it possible to hop from one stop to another, for example go from Brunnen to Bauen by boat, have lunch in Bauen (I seem to remember it was a nice and quite place) and hop on a boat again from Bauen to Rütli and eventually Rütli back to Brunnen?

Any thought, suggestion?

It's not possible to walk on the flat to Bauen - you need to go up first.

You can get the boat but check the timetables and directions as you don't want to go the long way round to get back if that is not your choice.

We were in Brunnen last week and the Victorinox museum/shop is worth a few minutes of your time if you have interested visitors.

When you say up, do you mean Seelisberg or is there a path a bit further down one can catch to Bauen?

Seelisberg.

Here's a map

It is easy to get from Brunnen to the other side. The courses go Treib-Brunnen-Rütli-Bauen-Flüelen with other stops in between, not all courses serve Rütli and/or Bauen.

Check SBB website or https://www.lakelucerne.ch/en/timeta...res/timetable/ for time tables and connections. Also consider to take the boat all way up to Flüelen.
On the website select advanced options and chose boat only.

If you want to go down then it is Brunnen - Treib, the funicular up to Seelisberg, and down to the Rütli.

I do not seem to find online a timetable for transport in and around Schwyz. What is their public transport website, anyone knows?

Just use SBB.CH if you know your start and finish point.

Otherwise: Auto AG Schwyz for buses

I suspect that the account of real Mr. McTAVAGE, a true Scotsman, has been hacked, as he should by now know that for any thing public transport related https://sbb.ch or https://cff.ch as it is known in his neck of wood, gives you the answer. Be it train, bus, boat, metro, and even some funicular and cable cars.

PS: The local transport network is called TVSZ Traifverbund Schwyz https://www.tvsz.ch/zonenplan/ as usual tickets are valid on all means of transport (except boats).

Thanks Tom 1234 as in the end, Auto AG Schwyz is what I used all the time.

I did not think much of Schwyz, to be honest. Every bloody restaurant was shut for their annual holiday (same time as when tourists are flocking in!), there is not a single pedestrianized area in the old town, cars everywhere and I seem to have picked the week when every old building was being restored, so it was pneumatic drills, sanding machines and hammers from 7.00 every morning!
It was worth going up to Stoos with this new funicular (steepest in the world) and I did do some good hikes (and yodel!) from up there, but I could not manage Grosse Mythen with my cracked rib, shame.

On the other hand, I had a fabulous time in Brunnen, lovely beach and Hotel Bellevue has a fish in a saffron and Prosecco foam sauce to die for!

Without even checking beforehand, I found myself at the top of Klewenalp (above Beckenried) where there was a...Jodelfest and found myself in the company of my friend and coach the formidable Dame Barbara Klossner, the Diva of Swiss Yodel herself! That in itself was worth the trip!

Thanks again to everyone who took time to give me tips and recommendations on their region.
