Place for children with disabilities to socialize

My 9-year-old son has a speech disability that makes him speak essentially like a much younger child, plus it's German as a second language. Is there any area around Zurich or activity where children like him would be more welcome and other children more patient than the average playground?

Re: Place for children with disabilities to socialize

In Zurich, these subsidised community centres offer playgrounds, toilets and a shelter from the rain for free. There is often a moderately priced café there, too. Some of them have a public library attached.

They offer group activities, and clubs and courses, such as dancing or exercises for parents and children together, or arts and crafts, or woodworking, pottery or sewing, gardening, and sometimes language courses. All of these charge a nominal fee.

Sometimes they hold once-off events, like painting Easter Eggs or a children's disco, or a barbeque day.

One can also just drop in any time and hang around with whomever's there on the day, for free. That can be a good way to practice your German. They are all reachable by public transport within a kilometre or so, max.

Each GZ (those initials pronounced in German) has a different atmosphere and a changing range of things on offer, and so it's worth doing a tour of them all.
