Give me some privacy - Secluded retreat wanted.

I have it with all the noisy people and close next door neighbors.
Where can I rent a cabin or house (not a hotel or resort) where privacy is a main theme?

Requirements:
- In Europe, accessible by car, a one day drive at most.
- Room for two people.
- Self catering or nearby restaurant(s).
- No noisy staff. No gardener mowing the lawn while you sun bath next to the pool, no maid knocking on the door when you sleep in, no owner asking every second day if all is fine and right.
- Certain basic luxury, I am not looking for Ted Kaczynski's Cabin.
- Not too expensive, I am not looking for a Chateau either.
- Rental for a week or two.
- No damn Tiger mosquitoes.
- No one which could take offence when I step on the balcony and I forget to close my bathrobe. Not because they take offence, but because there is actually no one.
- In addition I do not want do see a neighbors dooing the same. Not because they are considered but because there is no neighbour.
- Internet would be nice, but should have at least telephone reception.
- Perfect for someone with Scopophobia.
- You know: Private and secluded.

Actually, we have such a place. 200m from the main road, nearest neighbor 1km away.

None, at the moment, and the fish in the pond eat them all in summer, saves us having to feed them.

I can take pictures tomorrow when I go to dump the compost.

Yes, actually, though the shower pressure is weak due to only 8m of head or so.

Water/house heated by the wood stove.

Electricity via battery/photovoltaic or a 2kW generator (with a backup).

Water is rainwater, drinking water fountain 200m away.

Re: Give me some privacy - Secluded retreat wanted.

Hard to give you ideas without knowing a bit more about what your wishlist is. Do you need sunshine and beaches, or hiking, a jakuzzi or spa treatments, or ....

Lac St Point is lovely

https://www.les-rives-sauvages.fr/

and this place is gorgeous- up a track at the top of a mountain all on its own - the best place for xcoutnry skiing and foraging for mushrooms, hiking the Jura. Best have winter tyres as snow coming!

If I knew, I'd live there. I shall follow this thread attentively

For now I'm just glad to see, it's not me going weird but a problem that bothers others too.

Not helpful for you, I know, sorry.

Have you checked out airBnB?

There are places like this in the Verzasca Valley, Tessin.

I don't know the price as you didn't give any dates.

Re: Give me some privacy - Secluded retreat wanted.

@Tom1234 Really? In Lavertezzo paese where the Ponte dei Salti is You call that "secluded" ?!?

@Odile Looks nice, but woundn't that be a bit expensive just for me and my GF alone? And wouldn't there be also staff, which means we would not be really alone, with real privacy.

@st2lemans Not sure if your place is Ted's cabin in granite or my grand-grand-fathers rustico upgraded with PV (o.k. if I remember correctly his was just next to the road, so it most likely not his)

Re: Give me some privacy - Secluded retreat wanted.

I call some parts of Chamonix in France and a couple of other smaller places in that valley - secluded. Plus easy access to a good supermarket is a bonus...

Wouldn't some of the smaller Ski villages be dead as a dodo this time of year?

How about the Black Forest? That's exactly where I would go for some quiet in November.

My point was - Have you checked out the airBnB website for places? I'm not suggesting places from airBnB - I'm sure you can do that yourself.

With regards to the place I mentioned, the reviews say the place is really quiet which was one of your requirements.

Being the google-king of EF, I guess you found this one already?
Yeti's romantische Alphütten

or if you want electricity and water
Hüttenland - Austria

I did not check prices - you're desperate, no?

Le Tillau looks like my kind of place! I can see myself with a Whisky in one of these nice leather wing armchairs.
