Day/Weekend trips from Basel with Public Transport

Hi!

Can you recommend some day/weekend trips reachable by public transport from Basel? I'd love to see some sweet, cute little European villages with charm!

Colmar in France.
Otherwise pick a city/town - Bern, Biel/Bienne, Lausanne, Rheinfelden, Baden...

Cute little villages? Or also cities?

Comar, Strassbourg, Freiburg (DE) to name a couple.

Freiburg is definitely worth a visit. It's a lovely small city with a lot of charm. Friendly people too. Just 40 minutes or so from Basel by train.

Depends what kind of size you mean..

For someone from Zürich, Basel is a cute little village too (without charme, though )

Nah, as others said: Plenty of choices nearby, depending on what you're looking for. Freiburg i.Br. is the easiest to get, along with Colmar. In Switzerland, Baden would be a decent choice for a small city with some history. Fribourg offers MUCH more historal sights, but is quite a bit farther. Thun is nice with the lake, but personally I'd only head there spring to autumn, not in winter.

Bern is obvious too.. but depending on your definition, might be too large (as is Freiburg i.Br.)

I went to Freiburg i. B. last week and the Christmas market is wonderful too! Amazing Glühwein and quite a mystical atmosphere. And it really is super easy to reach from Basel by train.

Would definitely second Colmar. There's a great museum: https://www.musee-unterlinden.com/en/home/

Plus, it also has a canal area where you can grab lunch by the water. Super cute.
