I hope you realise that all campsites are prohibited to open per ch covid rules.

https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home...es-bundes.html

If you are lucky they might be part of the phase 3 openings, but that means after 6 June minimum.
I hadn't actually seen that .. Thank you..

I had been looking at various campsites and info was sparse - like 'we hope to open to soon'

So another plan will be required..

Re: Ideas for ascension long weekend?

it's not a camping but it's a great place for kids and it's open.

The place is nice. Not sure I would want to go to Ticino in 20 days but might be worth a try. They have Special offers where you can eat in your room and book the Swimming pool for a certain time slot. Same goes with Minigold. So not bad.

I could offer a meadow with access to WCs a dry room and kitchen (not shared) - so probably not what you are looking for, in the NE Jura.
That is a lovely offer! It actually sounds really nice

There hasn't been a single proven case where a child has passed it on to an adult - anywhere in the world.

That's really not the problem.
I find that hard to believe, is it proven? The proven fact is that children CAN get the virus, therefore how can they they not transfer it?

Re: Ideas for ascension long weekend?

We had also been hoping to go camping that long weekend (May 21 -24) in Vintznau, on Lake Lucerne (where we went last year). But their website says that they won't be able to open until June 8th or so. I figured it probably wasn't a good idea to go next month anyways, considering the situation with the virus and the way the facilities are shared.

It is a nice camp ground, though. It has a heated outdoor pool and tent pitches as well as pitches for campers, all with electricity. And there is a path that goes down to a nice little beach area on Lake Lucerne, with an amazing view of the sunset.

Fingers crossed for camping this summer, at least.

Can you substantiate that?

Very latest research points in the opposite direction (and calls the Swiss decision very much into question)

Long term camping is allowed apparently, short-term not.

I read it here

Quote:
No case of a child passing coronavirus to an adult exists, evidence review shows
There has not been a single instance of a child under 10 transmitting the virus, even in contact tracing carried out by WHO

I think these two apposite views just shows the experts do not know enough about this virus.

The rest of my post was actually countering MCs post where she said that it didn't matter whether children were at campsites as they were going back to school anyway.
My point was that it wasn't the children that campers should be worried about but other adult campers.

Campsites are like cruise ships as transmission vessels for disease - I say that from experience.

That does look nice ... But our Eurocamp long weekend cost 100.-

This costs 10x more for just two nights.. Ouch ...

Well perhaps you could always try ascending to heaven. Apparently it has been done before.

Or you could pitch your tent in your own garden and enjoy the stunning views of the French Alps over the lake.

John, mind those bloody forest fires regulations. Before the rains started fires were forbidden basically in all Switzerland.

See here for up-to-date information.

Considering that after May 11 our kids will definitelly share WCs, corridors, classrooms, buses, trains, gyms, solfège and I don't know what else..I am not sure if avoiding particularly camp sites will help much.
You are presuming a) the effect is not additive of doing additional activities , and b) that adults have the same risk profile as kids

We are meant to be doing as much distancing as we can do that shops can reopen, kids can go back to school etc. Honestly, this camping malarkey is such a bad idea that I can barely believe it's being suggested.

I am with you on that one. When there are many people on this forum who are desperate to see their families and know that the only way that is going to happen is if people show some sense and follow social distance as much as possible, talking about going to a different area to go camping is really tone deaf!
