Ideas for ascension long weekend?

We normally go with a few families to camping in France but it's just been cancelled by the operator Eurocamp. Obviously there are unknowns around border crossings, will the sites even be open etc..

Started looking at alternatives in CH but there's really no reliable info on wether anything will open or not.

I want to do something since I have the booked off and need a little break..

Ideas?

Obviously I'm assuming here that unlock down goes to plan and we don't hit a second wave etc etc..

What are the dates this year- do you have your own camping equipment?

I think it's 20th May .. But I'm off for that whole week, we'd planned a couple of different camp sites around Annecy.
We'd booked to stay in the cabins / caravans on site.

However we do have the whole camping kit, but it's pretty big, not backpack stuff..

We prefer a site with facilities, bar, pool, clean toilets etc rather than just a field. But we're not particularly fussy.

Staying at home and doing your fair share to flatten the curve.

Judging by the way people are currently behaving, there is definitely going to be a second wave.

Val de Travers is lovely and has nice camping sites. I advise to sticking to nature and off busy trails, you will still enjoy your time and will simultaneously stay safe.

I would say camping counts as social distancing ..

But yeah, my recent weekly shopping trip felt like there was no longer anything going on.. Business as usual has returned.

Not when everybody shares the toilets and shower facilities

I'd agree with Omtatsat for once.

- because of the shared toilets, basins and showers and washingup facilites, camping on a public site is probably the worst thing one could do.

They did a check for corona virus on surfaces in a hospital and the absolutely worst place was the staff toilets.

I could offer a meadow with access to WCs a dry room and kitchen (not shared) - so probably not what you are looking for, in the NE Jura.

Considering that after May 11 our kids will definitelly share WCs, corridors, classrooms, buses, trains, gyms, solfège and I don't know what else..I am not sure if avoiding particularly camp sites will help much.

There hasn't been a single proven case where a child has passed it on to an adult - anywhere in the world.

That's really not the problem.

So in that case are you:

- Only going with member of your own household?

- Not going to a camp site, but camping in the wild away from everyone?

Thanks Odile .. We camped in the garden for easter and it was great fun.. But we''ll probably be a few families, we'll need a bar to escape the kids and they'll want a pool and climbing frames and stuff..

Only our household would be in our tent or cabin..

We go to campsites a dozen times per year, we are not usually very close to strangers..The shared facilities are never crowded, it would be very easy to keep 2m distance and keep the place clean around the dish washing sink.

The onsite resto / bar I'm sure could implement distancing..

No more difficult to distance than my weekly shop at coop.

Re: Ideas for ascension long weekend?

Fair enough - was just thinking that would be a great way to escape as campsites will probably still be closed. Plenty of space for several families and a massive room to sit and play if weather not so good. T'was just an offer- in case.

Re: Ideas for ascension long weekend?

I hope you realise that all campsites are prohibited to open per ch covid rules.

https://www.bag.admin.ch/bag/en/home...es-bundes.html

If you are lucky they might be part of the phase 3 openings, but that means after 6 June minimum.
