Excess Baggage Shipping to India

Hi All,

***Searched posts already regarding this, but all post are old. Hence posting again for latest information.***

I am returning back to India in 2 weeks. I have to catch flight from Frankfurt Germany to India. I have around 6-8 luggage of which 2 are heavy full size trolley bag. I have an Infant as well with me. It will be difficult to travel with so many luggage and infant to Frankfurt from Zurich. I am thinking to send 2 heavy trolley bags to India via some parcel services. I don't want express shipping.

Please suggest some options/company from Zurich to Mumbai India shipping. Or convenient way to travel to Frankfurt airport from Zurich.

**PS : I am already doing searches on internet, but not yet come across good/convenient options yet**

Re: Excess Baggage Shipping to India

The easiest would be a flight from Zurich to Frankfurt with the same Airline (or at least the same Airline group). That way you can check in everything in Zurich already.

If that is not possible or too expensive, there is a direct coach/bus that goes from Zurich trainstation to Frankfurt Airport. It will take a while but you only Need to board in Zurich and you get off at the Airport. I have not done that myself but I know someone who did and it worked. It's with Flixbus https://global.flixbus.com

Make sure to reserve enough time with all the security restrictions at the moment.

Some options
  • use swiss post
  • use DHL
  • take a taxi to Frankfurt
  • take a taxi to ZH SBB and a direct train to FRA, FRA terminal is in the airport, but still a lot of walking to do based on which terminal to board
  • if you can drive, rent one way and drop at FRA airport

none are cheap options , but considering number of luggage and an infant to deal with, try reaching out to all and get some calculations

Hello
To be honest if you are traveling alone with an infant even one trolley will be quite difficult to manage, not sure how you will manage 4-6 (even you have another person). Just moving with airport, coming out of taxi, and taking a train or bus would be tough - just my few cents based on personal experience.

Best would be parcel as much as possible, you always have weight bracket for a price use it to the maximum.

Regards
