Any idea what's the current situation for the Basel airport. Given that the airport is on French territory, is it allowed to drive from Switzerland to the Basel airport and back with no test?

As I think you've already discovered, there's a Swiss side of the airport and a French side. The Swiss side is accessible without leaving Switzerland so no French rules apply unless flying to France. Geographically the airport is on French soil but the road there from Basel is Switzerland. Once in the airport it's a mix. You used to be able to simply walk to the end of the corridor and you were in France.

For years and years passport control was split into Swiss and French (manned by Swiss and French separately) but it made no difference which you chose, other than the French usually couldn't be arsed to look at the passports.

Now after quite a while of chaos the areas are combined so I don't quite know how it works when you return to Basel. I guess they have it separated again.

I seem to remember from previous issues, if your flight ticket says "BSL" you're deemed to be flying into Switzerland when it comes to the airline.

Only for psuedo-legal purposes, it is actually in France.

It is a Customís road. Geneva has one too, but the other way around.

Re: Basel Euroairport UK Quarantine!

Apologies for digging such an old thread, but same situation again. People fully vaxxed Switzerland can travel to UK from Monday. France remains on Amber Plus for the UK.

Just wondering how it is now with Euroairport? Is it still regarded as French Airport?

The FCO website has removed the statement for Euroairport and I can't find it.

Re: Basel Euroairport UK Quarantine!

Apologies, for bringing up this old topic but with the new UK update I wonder if Euroairport is still classed French?

The statement is no longer on the FCO website?

Re: Basel Euroairport UK Quarantine!

Switzerland will be green from Monday, France stays Amber.
I have unvaccinated friends that booked tickets from Euroairport Basel.

Would they have to quarantine or not?
