Bad weather stuff around Interlaken

Going there for the easter week and the weather is looking like back to winter from Tuesday..

I don't want to take the ski stuff, we'd planned on going some nice walks with the dog and admiring the scenery .. Taking it easy.. But that'll be off if it's proper bad weather. And I don't fancy spending hundreds on the mountain trains to see clouds.

So what is there we could do inside or under cover? Caves? Thermal baths? Other stuff kids would like?

Ideas ?

The Beatus caves are worth a visit but not sure what the situation is there regarding COVID restrictions.
Ballenberg is also good if the weather is dry, it doesn’t need to be warm and sunny for that.

Re: Bad weather stuff around Interlaken

There's plenty, however I don't know about them
being open due to Covid

-Beatushöhlen (large caves connected to a Swiss tale)
-Heimwehfluh (very large model train)
- The ships on both lakes are an idea too
Thunerseeschiffahrt resp. Brienzerseeschifffahrt

Brienz:
Wood sculptures
Ballenberg Museum, on a sunny day is a MUST 😉 and dogs are allowed too

Thun:
Old town
Castle(s) Thun/ Schadau/ Oberhofen
Niesenbahn (not as expensive as Brienz Rothornbahn)

You could even venture to Bääärn😉 Where you can walk protected from rain from trainstation to bear oit and back

Just a few spontaneous ideas will think of more, when I bottled the BBQ sauce

Don’t expect anything to be open, go there and play it by ear... you’ll enjoy the place much better without too much expectation. One thing is sure, Easter weekend weather is going to be fantastic... be happy you all are safe and well

Re: Bad weather stuff around Interlaken

There is indeed not a lot open in terms of indoor bad weather stuff .. Both due to covid and also because much of it opens after the ski season ends .. Interlaken and nearby Thun have loads closed but still worth a wander around

However the good stuff is of course business as usual .. The tele cabins and mountains trains etc.. Pretty spectacular.. Most of the places have take away available up there so it's not completely void of a beer at the top.
It's an area we haven't explored much but will do a lot more.

From sunburn and BBQ at the weekend to -15 on the mountain top to waking up to 5cm of snow on Tuesday and -7 over night .. back to double figures by Friday .. We're getting to experience it all ..

If you like Single Malt Whisky and other yummy things like that, van der Hejiden in Thun is recommendable

In Bern are a few really good Museums and they're open😉

Sounds great.

While I think I'll ski tomorrow.
