I wonder if that'd pass the EF holiday police filter. | | | | | Yeah, I don‘t want to have a holiday police filter. You do what you want, that‘s your business. I‘m against Judging one visit more worthy than the other.
Besides, people meeting in the middle works more if you‘re on the same continent and opens up to a lot of expense and logistics. If your family is in the US, where do you meet? Atlantis?

Tom | | | | | Good for you. I do not. Though I know some folks who went to school there. Great advertising library, I think.

| | Re: Holidays abroad during Covid | Quote: | | | | | https://www.news.com.au/travel/trave...96ab9e6c2a615a Health Minister Greg Hunt has dampened international travel hopes even further, claiming even after the whole country is vaccinated against COVID-19 there is no “guarantee” borders will reopen.
“Vaccination alone is no guarantee that you can open up. And this was a discussion that in fact I had with Professor Murphy in just the last 24 hours, that if the whole country were vaccinated, you couldn’t just open the borders,” he said at a press conference on Tuesday. | | | | | Yeah, well, Murphy's law. We all know how that works.

As soon as the most at risk people are able to be vaccinated, I think it is completely fair to want to travel.
I am not sure as to when I will go anywhere (besides a visit to my family) once I have my vaccine...to me, it isn't worth while to go to my beloved Italy and see everyone still in masks and social distancing, just sort of takes the fun out of it. I am hoping by this time next year we can move past all of these measures and phobias.

| | Re: Holidays abroad during Covid | Quote: | | | | | I have to say, without judgement, that it does seem odd to me that the response to a global pandemic is the cry of "what about my holidays?" Personally I am not travelling outside of the country as I simply wouldn't enjoy it at the moment, it doesn't feel right to me, and the risk of something going wrong simply makes it not worthwhile in my opinion. | | | | | Exactly. Having an opinion which differs from others is neither judgement, nor Police.
When someone equates getting in your own car, driving a few kms to a supermarket off peak times, putting a mask on, disinfecting- doing quick shop, disinfecting again, washing hands when getting home- to a holiday in Mexico- I think they have lost the plot.
komsomolez, when one person in your direct family is not comfortable with the situation, you have to wait until they are- you can't enforce meeting up. Hopefully when we are all vaccinated, and that will be soon (well not the grandchildren) then we will be able to. It makes it doubly hard, I know.

Susie, we have just cancelled a special trip to Umbria and Tuscany- for the reasons stated. We were driving over, self catering apartments- but even so, not my idea of fun. Have re-booked for September and let's hope.
