As soon as the most at risk people are able to be vaccinated, I think it is completely fair to want to travel.

I am not sure as to when I will go anywhere (besides a visit to my family) once I have my vaccine...to me, it isn't worth while to go to my beloved Italy and see everyone still in masks and social distancing, just sort of takes the fun out of it. I am hoping by this time next year we can move past all of these measures and phobias.

When someone equates getting in your own car, driving a few kms to a supermarket off peak times, putting a mask on, disinfecting- doing quick shop, disinfecting again, washing hands when getting home- to a holiday in Mexico- I think they have lost the plot.

komsomolez, when one person in your direct family is not comfortable with the situation, you have to wait until they are- you can't enforce meeting up. Hopefully when we are all vaccinated, and that will be soon (well not the grandchildren) then we will be able to. It makes it doubly hard, I know.

Just think about what you will do if you test positive when you take your PCR to return...hope you have insurance that pays for your quarantine! Tourists have been stranded in Mexico recently.

Susie, we have just cancelled a special trip to Umbria and Tuscany- for the reasons stated. We were driving over, self catering apartments- but even so, not my idea of fun. Have re-booked for September and let's hope.
