Strangely enough - nope and more nope. My nearest shops are in France- and I am lucky to be able to go when there is hardly anyone there and come straight back, in my own car. As for travel- I am not travelling- that is the whole point. Holiday planned 2 years ago, to Italy, cancelled. And No trip to uk - be it for a holiday or hug those daughters and grandchildren.
Many of us here here didn't hug our parents or our children didn't hug their grandparents. And yes, some of them are old and have had health issues too. But we're not talking too much about it because frankly I don't think someone cares. Btw, haven't visited family since the end of 2019.

I think people have their own problems and views and are not easily convinced to lend a sympathetic ear to anyone who is asking for at any given time. We have heard folks demanding sympathy and respect for being exposed more than some others here, it doesn't work that way. Let's live and let others live too. I respect your opinion even if I don't agree with you on this one.

Yup. People's own reasons are always the most important... to them.

I haven't seen my family 2019 either and I won't travel to them across borders until both I and they are vaccinated.

My personal view is that unless your family member is gravely ill or in some kind of dire situation or mental state where you simply have to go to see them otherwise bad things will happen, then frequent video calls are an acceptable substitute and a little more patience should be exercised until the situation is improved.

That is still unnecessary international travel.

Tom
I've been to Austria 12 times this year. I must go on the naughty step...

We're waiting to see how situation evolves as currently there are tons of restrictions in my home country (oh, and to get vaccinated of course). And for us is a holiday too, we're always visiting museums, libraries, go to restaurants etc.
But for the time being I'm really contemplating a holiday abroad, in one of the "safe" destinations, don't know what to do. We'll see what are the risks. Nothing organised yet, we might decide to spend a week somewhere in CH after all.

Well, you therefore had many tests done and must have been negative just as often.
My neighbour goes there twice a month. It's fun and relaxed to hang out with her when she's here.
Also I kind of vicariously get tested every two weeks too.

Shit.

Ah well, the hotel was always refundable, the squeezyjet flights probably will give a credit for next time.

Re: Holidays abroad during Covid

If anyone is planning to book, I wanted to share that I have read in the consumer magazine that TCS_livret ETI is the only travel insurance who will reimburse cancellation if your country of destination goes on the BAG list of obligatory quarantine - this as long as you have bought your travel at a time when it was not.

https://www.tcs.ch/fr/produits/depan...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

Hope this helps!

We lived in Dubai (and other parts of the UAE). I would never go there again.

I would boycott the UAE based on the Princess Latifa situation alone.

I guess the contemporary term is cancelling them. Not a boycott, cancelling them

It's down to prevalence of risky mutations more than absolute case numbers these days. No idea how they managed to not include India though.

I was always curious about these places. If you are conforming to local customs and come with serious cash, what can go wrong? I mean as a tourist..?
