Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

In normal times there is a train to Barcelona from Geneva. Not sure if it is running now.

I'm not aware of that train. I thought the last direct train was cut back in 2012 or thereabouts. But then I'm not always up to date on these things and it may be there is something running again.

Last time I went to Spain by train (done it twice this year) this involved a change of trains in Lyon. Still perfectly doable though, mind you.

Might be worth booking through the RENFE website. They sometimes have special offers that the SBB website doesn't know about.

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

Would France not require a PCR though, in both directions? Making it a pointless exercise?

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

Has anyone got any info on Spain's entry requirements changing on the 7th? It was widely reported in the press that Spain would open to vaccinated non-EU travellers on the 7th of June and accept vaccination in lieu of tests...... but I can't find anything official at all

You should be warned that trying to use RENFE's website is one of the most frustrating experiences you can possibly have in this world.

Mr Sanchez seems to think that people get up in the morning and say "hmm, what can I do today? Shall I take a flight to Spain?"

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

Update in https://www.spth.gob.es, vaccination certificates are accepted to generate the QR code required to enter Spain. Published today, coming into force on Monday 7th.

Land borders are subject to the same requirements with only some exceptions for professionals of transport, cross-border workers or people who simply live close to the border.

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

What is interesting though is a discrepancy between what's written here:
https://www.spth.gob.es/faq?tab=2
Quote:
EU Digital COVID Certificate IN DIGITAL FORMAT, issued by a member state of the European Union. It may contain one or more of the following documents proving that a person:

has been vaccinated against COVID-19
a diagnostic test [NAAT (nucleic acid amplification test, e.g. RT-PCR, RT-LAMP, TMA) /RAT (rapid antigen test)] has been performed and the result was negative.
has recovered from COVID-19, after having had the disease.
and here:
https://www.mscbs.gob.es/en/profesio.../nCov/spth.htm
Quote:
From December 10th, 2020, TMA (Transcription-Mediated Amplification) and RT-LAMP (Reverse Transcriptase Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification), have been incorporated as accepted diagnostic tests in addition to PCR. Also, from this date, children under 6 years old are exempt from diagnostic testing for active SARS-CoV-2 infection, in order to enter Spain.
So is a rapid antigen test sufficient? It's much cheaper compared to RT-PCR.

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

Yes, antigen tests are now accepted if it is in some common EU list of approved tests. Another update is that the tests shall be not older than 48 h.

Certificate of having recovered from covid is also accepted.

Thanks! So can I assume that for a swiss resident an antigen test taken at the Basel Airport will be valid in Spain?
