Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

So I've decided to go to Barcelona in about 10days (first part of June).

I'm researching now but if anyone has recently been there (or are there now, or have family/friends there).
I'm wondering --- are all the tourist attractions open to visitors?
I see the Hop on Hop off bus isn't running, so I'm concerned all the amazing places may not be opened.

I'm a tourist, so I'll be doing tourist things -- going into churches, seeing the amazing architecture, checking out amazing restaurants, sitting on the beach....

Again -- I'm doing my research but thought maybe someone has first hand experience.

OH - and far as I read, I still need a PCR test to enter (unless that is changing before I go) - can someone confirm that.

Thanks

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

I'm flying to Malaga mid-June, from what I read we still need a PCR test, as Switzerland is list listed and will be listed until June 6th.

https://www.mscbs.gob.es/en/profesio.../nCov/spth.htm

Apparently, people fully vaccinated will be able to enter without testing 14-days after the last dose from June 7th. Unfortunately, at the time of my travel I will be only 8 days after my 2nd dose.

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

My understanding is that Spain only requires the PCR test if you enter via an airport. If you drive or come by train there is no such requirement AFAIK.

I've been to Spain twice this year and had no trouble entering or leaving. I didn't go to any tourist attractions so can't say how easy they are to visit (maybe the web pages of the respective attractions might offer some clues) but otherwise Spain seemed to pretty much back to normal, with businesses open etc, as well as bars, restaurants, hotels etc. Possibly there may still be curfews in place (depends on the location) and limits to number of people allowed in a shop or business at any one time. But my impression was that even these restrictions were being enforced with varying degrees of creativity by different shop owners etc. I never saw police checking or enforcing anything.

A friend of mine who is a builder says that business is pretty much back to normal for him and with the backlog on repairs that accumulated under the shutdown, he has enough work to keep him busy for the forseeable future.

This site has the official rules... most stuff seems to be open:

My daughter lives in Barcelona. She told me two or three days ago that it still feels a lot more "locked down" than Madrid, for example.

Lovely city

COVID aside, watch out for pickpockets, they are everywhere, they almost got me but my wife noticed. Think it is ranked 1 in Europe for this and now I guess they might be even more desperate.

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

I live outside of Barcelona now, and can confirm that pickpockets are epidemic. Be especially careful on the train and the stations in Barcelona and at the airport. Also, many areas near the center can be dangerous at night (and sometimes during the day (Raval). The city has been changing for 10+yrs as the consequences for thieves are nonexistent.

Can't speak for tourist things, as we just don't visit anymore because of the crime and general grime... a pity.

Sad to hear about the high levels of crime there. I was planning a weekend trip for August but now reconsidering this.

On doing a little research I read that in the first half of 2019 alone, there were over 5000 violent street robberies and the law states that the theft of property worth less than €400 is a misdemeanour, not a crime, hence there is very little deterrent.

Maybe if tourists stop visiting, post Covid, the Barcelona gov't will look at their ridiculous laws and start protecting its citizens/residents.

yup

penalty for not wearing a mask is bigger than penalty for stealing 400 EUR.

UGH ---- The covid test to get there, and to return cost more then the rest of my trip.

150chf to go there
100+ euro's to get back

That's 300ish round trip and the flight is only 140chf round trip.

I can't seem to find a cheaper pcr test either here in Zurich or in Barcelona.

I am considering cancelling this trip unless I can get the covid test price down.

And please do not explore the details of your plane ticket: you would discover you paid more in airport taxes than in fuel + personell cost + maintenance of the plane!

Wait until you are fully vaccinated, then you won’t need a test in either direction (from June 7 Spain).

7th of June is apparently the date you will be able to enter Spain with vaccination in lieu of a test. Switzerland allow it from today. Spain say you have to have had the vaccine at least 14 days before travel.

Re: Heading to Barcelona in about 10days

The cheapest covid I've managed to find here for travel purposes is at the Radisson Blu in the airport: https://www.flughafen-zuerich.ch/en/...al-information

It's 119CHF (plus transport costs to/from the test the day before your flight).
I don't have any information on whether there are cheaper test options in Barcelona.

Good luck with your trip, if you do decide it's worth it!

I don't seem to find what are the swiss regulations regarding the time after the second shot. Do I also have to wait 14 days to not have to do a PCR test?

Switzerland doesn’t seem to have a time requirement after second dose.

I have said this before.

You don't need a PCR test to enter Spain via the land routes and I'm sure that if you shop around you can find a coach that's cheaper than the plane.

You could also hitch hike maybe?

Alternatively you can be grateful that you have found a cheap flight and that the PCR test is reasonably priced and just enjoy it.
