| | Re: Which supermarket is the cheapest? | Quote: | | | | | Like with illegal drugs, people will still smoke. I doubt the illegal manufactures will worry about the quality of what gets sold. | | | | | That's not a good comparison. Chuff is describing banning a product hazardous to health which is currently legally now on sale.
You are describing a product that (in recent history at least) has never legally been on sale - and then banned.
It's already been shown in many countries that smoking rates have decreased when sales outlets have been limited and advertising of cigarettes has been severely curtailed.
Un-normalising cigarette smoking seems to be working.
Where's the evidence for your argument?

| | | | | Plenty of black market cigarettes produced at the moment, both counterfeit & non branded. Counterfeit products seldom are made to the same standards.

I know in the UK Marks & Spencer paid zero rent for their flagship store at the Newly refurbished Birmingham rail station, still did not stop them closing the shop a few years later as even with zero rent was not profitable. Having a high street name take a major space will attract other businesses who will pay higher rents

I don't like the one near the cemetery.

How come there is no Volg in Zürich center, but as soon as you go out of the city, it's more likely to find one of those instead of one of the other mentioned before?
(My experience is limited to few towns outside Zürich)

| | Re: Which supermarket is the cheapest? | Quote: | | | | | Denner is the Swiss store I prefer!
Tom | | | | | I agree with you on this occasion but all Denners are not created (or managed) equally. Have a look at Denner in Feldmeilen or Mannedorf they are better than your average small town Migros or Coop. We do 60% Aldi and 40% Denner, I do like the complete randomness of Aldi, where else can you buy weed in supermarkets?

I shop in manor with coop for small more regular stuff as it’s the only one relatively close to me.
But I buy most of stuff in a farmers market sort of place. Fruit and veg. | | | | | Could you recommend farmer markets around Lugano area ?

| | Re: Which supermarket is the cheapest? | Quote: | | | | | No one goes to the Volg? | | | | | These are usually found in tiny towns. We on the other hand are so tiny, we don't even have that.
There's one in the next town and yes, I go there sometimes. But as I don't like shopping really, I prefer a Migros that just has everything I need = I can do it in one go and get the heck out. |

Tom | | | | | That's not really a surprise, Volg is an acronym and stands for Verein Ostschweizer Landwirtschafts Genossenschaften
(translates to something like Association of Agricultural Cooperatives in Eastern Switzerland)
Those in my area are open from 6am to 9pm Mon-Sat, closed Sundays.
