Hi there. I am new to the group and have now been in Zurich for two weeks and am yearning for a good flick. My Deutsche isn't very good, and while I know movies are a great way to improve that problem, tonight I would prefer a good ol' film in English. Any recommendations, please?

If you go to this website <http://www.cineman.ch/kinoprogramm/p...ty&city=Zürich> ... below the movie title it shows in which languages the movie is shown, e.g. 'One Way' states Edf, meaning the movie is in English with German and French subtitles.

Most of the movies are shown with the original language and german and french subtitles. The only ones to watch out for are children's movies, particularily during the day, as those are shown at certain times dubbed into German. All newspapers listings that I can recall all use the notation that was explained in the above post, so it should be easy to figure out what the language of the movie.

you know here you can watch even in TV the english audio track. Most of the national channels are sending in dual track mode for episodes or movies which are original in english. you have to look this in the episode guide. The channels which support this is: SF1, SF2, TSR1 + 2, TSI1+2. But sometimes they send also in Stereo. Then u don't have this option.

Indeed, you have already been advised that Edf means spoken English, with deutsch and french subtitles. If the movie just states D, then it's spoken German only. It's not just kids movies you have to watch out for, but also some of the bigger blockbusters.

Finally, if a movie wasn't originally in English, then you're out of luck, as there'll be no English subtitles. In other words, be careful with Mel Gibson movies.
