visit to Gotthard Tunnel

Hello

I am trying to organize a group to take a guided tour of the Gotthard tunnel project. To visit most of the sites there is a minimum of 8-10 people. So far it's just my Father and I going. We would be able to go from the 19th-28th of Feb. Any of the sites would be interesting so we don't have a preference.

For more info about the guided tours check out this site.
http://www.infocentro.ch/infocentro-...-la-visita.asp

I hope we are not the only ones interested in going.

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

My husband and I would be interested in going, depending on which day.

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

We'd be interested if it was practical to get from zurich to wherever you need to meet - could it be on Friday 20th or Sat 21st - those are school holidays so my husband is definitely around...

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

I was looking a little more on the info page and found that at Faido we could go in the tunnel during the guided tour. At the all other sites we would not go in.
http://www.infocentro.ch/infocentro-...es-offered.htm

The trip from Zurich to Faido is about 2 hours by train or car. The weekend of the 21st-22nd would be fine for us.

As you will see this tour would cost 40chf per person.

Once you have decided on the date, it would be a good idea to set it up as a social event to get RSVPs for those attending:

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

OK. So I talked to someone about making a reservation, Both the 21st and 22nd are still free. There are 2 times a day that we could book the tour, 9:30 or 14:00.
We would meet in pollegio at the Infocentre, there we get a hard hat, clothing...etc. Then they take us by mini bus to Faido and then in the tunnel. The whole tour takes about 3 hours.

Please check this link for more info.
http://www.infocentro.ch/infocentro-...es-offered.htm

I would like to book on one of these days. I am thinking sun 22nd at 9:30 Would this be good for everyone?
There is a minimum of 8 people. So far I count 7 if everybody from above would come. If we have less then 8 we can still go on the tour we'll just have to pay for 8 people.

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

We'd like to come (two adults), we'll be coming from zurich...by public transport unless someone wants passengers !

Either day (Sat/Sun) and either time is OK with us...

I like the Sunday option, but I'm not sure I could be there by 9:30.

Anyone else prefer the 14:00?

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

I was thinking the later was better, then I realised 3 hours tour plus 2 hours back to Zurich - on a Sunday afternoon, not the easiest connections...

Yeah, but conversely: 2 hours to get there on a Sunday morning - for me more like 3. I'd have to be up at half five after attending the ceremonial opening of Swissbob's brewery the night before...

Not sure I could make that!

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

In fact, I've just checked.

I can't be there before 10:45 in any case!

I think I'm going to have to count myself out this time, because even the later tour involves getting up really early, and I've already paid up front for the brewery event.

I hadn't realised it was such a pain in the arse to get to.

Sorry.

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

Sunday morning doesn't work for me; Sunday afternoon is inconvenient but probably doable. I'm definitely in for either time on Saturday.

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

From what I understand these people can come for sure.

2ppl My Dad and I, anytime
2ppl Tereza and husband, anytime?
2ppl swisspea, anytime.
1ppl mathnut, Pref sat or sun afternoon.
?? Dougal's Breakfast

Swisspea I will be driving from Rapperswil and have room for 2 comfortably. It is possible to fit 3 but will be tight, Is there anyone that could drive Dougal's Breakfast?

The time
Sunday morning is a no good for mathnut . And I am guessing if dougal's Breakfast comes he could not make it sat afternoon.

So 9:30 on Sat the 21st or 14:00 on Sun the 22nd

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

no preference - we are free both days ...we don't mind taking the train, and our toddler is up usually by 5:30am, so early starts are good (Grandma is staying with us so we can be child-free for a day!)...

Re: visit to Gotthard Tunnel

in that case do you want to make it an event and put it onto the EF Calendar ?
also, I guessing that as long as we have minimum 8 then the cost is same and people don't have to register in advance ?
