Re: Solar Bob

Haven't done this particular one but Rodelbahns are great fun. You can really fly if you want to or, like me, pootle down with the brake half on.

Obviously if you've got someone like me on the ride in front of you, it's best to wait a couple of mins until I've got down to the bottom or you end up stuck behind me.

I've done the one at Oeschinen near Kandersteg and more recently the one at Atzmännig.

I've been on this one and it is good fun. Until the driver in front of me slowed me down, maybe it was Sandgrounder

Atzmännig is good for a day out "Rodelling" (toboganning in summer) too.

Great fun these things are. At first you feel a bit lost and like an idiot having to ask how this works and then you go for a second, a third, perhaps a forth ride and then you go for a drink.

You may also want to try Glacier 3000 Alpine Coaster. That is great fun.

If you want to experience true adrenaline, then you must take a ride on the world's highest bobsleigh track. It opened in the summer of 2007 and is the new attraction at Glacier 3000. You can cruise along at approx. 40 km/hour and with the brakes you determine how fast you want to go. The 1 km track offers lots of variety:
The ultimate highlight is the 520-degree loop,
followed by 10 curves,
6 waves,
3 jumps,
and 2 bridges.

Re: Solar Bob

Here are some picures from my trip on the Alpine coaster. Try to avoid the busy times so that you don't get stuck behind someone who holds the brakes on. Luckily, I had a clear run. A couple of the turns on the left hand side look as if you are going to disappear over the edge if you are going fast.

Totally safe. They have brakes if you feel that you are going too fast. The operator did reassure me that no problems could occur even if you do not use the brakes for the whole trip, unless you run into the bob in front. Even then, they cannot come off but the people in front will not thank you for being rammed. You probably wouldn't be allowed back on either.

Hi Hsiang.

The Roddelbahn at Langenbruck is great. I've been there loads of times with my family. Do as Sandgrounder says and wait for the person in front has gone quite a bit forward . It's best also if the people behind you also have the same idea.

On the last curve, there's a speed camera which tells you your speed.
I managed 52 kms.

You'll love it and it's completely safe.

Re: Solar Bob

There's a nice one at Churwalden too, though the run-out at the bottom is fairly long. Good fun for the kids.
