Something to do with the parents

Hello all,

My parents are coming for two weeks in August and I am finding things to do with them. Besides strolling the streets of Bern, floating the Aare and taking some daytrips (Appenzell, Luzern...) I am looking for one or two ideas that involve horseback riding and/or wine touring and tasting. I think this would be so cool to do with them and I checked out the swiss tourism website but they are not very well organized and it is difficult to find out where anything is or if there is really something of a day trip, all inclusive thing. Before calling them and asking, I wanted to know if anyone on here had some suggestions. Not necessarily limited to the horseback riding and wine tasting but something along those lines, too. Something that will stay with my parents and is unique because of the area.

Thanks for the help!

For the horse riding you could try this.

A further suggestion. Saturday morning Folklorique market in the market square (Place du Marché) in Vevey, which includes wine tasting.

In the afternoon take a trip across the lake to France. The boat pier is at the end of the market square, or, visit Château de Chillon.

Take the train from Bern to Murten, stroll through this ancient village, have lunch, take the boat across two lakes for 18 chf per person if you check the web site, or with a coop supercard, to Neuchatel or St-Blaise, and visit the vinyards in that region.
St-Blaise is a wonderful village to walk through (take the path beside the stream, past the old watermill, and turn left after the railway bridge where you find three vinyards). But check the web for their names and tasting times!
