If you're stuck for something to do this weekend in the Basel area, here are two things that may be of interest:

First is the Roemerfest. It is held every year in August Raurica and has lots of events planned such as Gladiator combat, chariot rides, Roman cooking etc. It's a fun family event where everyone will learn a little more about the Romans in Switzerland.

The second event, which takes place this Sunday is the massive Z7 Flea Market which is held four times a year and is the biggest one of its kind in North east Switzerland.

Here's the address. It is well signposted and there's lots of (free) parking nearby.

I justed looked at the web site http://www.flohmarkt-schweiz.ch/ for the fluh market. It says the next one is on 25th Oct. So is it on Sunday like the original poster said or 25 Oct?

The one in Pratteln is 25 October, yes.
