Re: romantic get-aways

Prague is great too !

Plenty of Hotels to choose from and the city is certainly worth a weekend visit "à deux"!

Re: romantic get-aways

Let me tell you where not to go:

Hotel Chalavaina in Mustair.

Interesting for its history but it's the Adams Family, Twilight and Dracula all rolled up into one.

Re: romantic get-aways

Well, it is definitely historical and the rooms are modern enough although there's no radio and I don't think there's a TV either. Just an well-funtioning en-suite bathroom.

The owner is very proud of his hotel and about keeping tradition. This is especially true during mealtimes. For dinner, you get one choice so that's why we decided to eat elsewhere.

Breakfast was served in the same fashion as 50 years ago. Butter, bread, jam and plain yoghurt. You get a little cheese and meat as well. No breakfast buffet. No cereal or even oatmeal. Everything is brought out on little plates for you. The dining room is surreal. It does look and feel like it has been remained unchanged for over 100s of years.

For a historical adventure, this hotel is ideal. For a romantic getaway, it's not. The owner is a bit spooky. It's a hotel you just have to see for yourself.

Re: romantic get-aways

ha! i've never heard of it and now i'm kinda tempted to plan a trip!!!
it reminds me of the abbeye de fontevraud, near saumur in france. but that was really updated but quite eerie because you can walk around the abbeye late at night if you are staying in the hotel part. it was beautiful, the food was EXCELLENT and saumur is quite a lovely little city!

thanks so much for your info- always nice to find new, interesting places to go!

Re: romantic get-aways

I always hqve thought that it was the fact to be with the loved one which was romantic, not a place...

Re: romantic get-aways

This could be romantic- if the weather was good.

It is a new hut that will open in March. The Monte Rosa hut will look like a glass crystal and will be relatively easy for hikers to reach (2.5 hours on foot from Rotenboden-Gornergratbahn station).
