travel insurance for foreign trips

Hello,

I'm travelling to India next week, and would like to take out some travel insurance to cover lost/stolen baggage and possible illness etc. In the Uk, this would be easy and cost about GBP20/ year - are there any companies offering similar deals in Switzerland, or does anyone know if its possible to get a UK policy which covers expats? How do people go about getting travelling insurance who live in CH?

Thanks

Patrious

Contact your insurance company and tell them your needs and they'll be happy to charge you some more to cover your trip

Hi Patrious
I have an annual travel insurance policy from Nationale and it cost 99CHF...
I believe with policies taken in the UK, you must be resident there and start the journey from the UK so you may want to check that out to be sure you are covered.
Enjoy India

I've used ERV before. Their website is in German/French only, but maybe you will have more luck by phone:

EUROPÄISCHE REISEVERSICHERUNGS AG
Steinengraben 28
Postfach
CH-4003 Basel

Tel. +41 61 275 22 10
Fax +41 61 275 27 42
info@erv.ch

You can also buy some of their products (at similar rates) at any SBB Railway Station (Travel Agency section).
