Does anyone know of a pottery painting place here in Zurich or surrounds.

This has been a popular idea in London and various other cities and is a great way to spend less than sunny days with kids. Good to explore artistic and creative abilities and great to make your own personilised tea sets and gifts??

Have tried to find one, only found jewellery making places which isn't so great for boys.

Would this dated thread assist in some way ??

I don't know of any commercial places but the public community centres (GZ) offer courses as well as open work places.

Have an 8 year old who is itching to paint his own TinTin inspired dinner plate and bowl. Got a paint your own kit and paints from the local craft shop but they recommend you only paint where the food does NOT go .. and seeing as he had Grand Designs, this will not do.

So in the last 3 years, has anyone discovered a "pottery cafe" or some such where we could go and get creative this weekend?

I went to Fuurwarch in Dubendorf with some friends a week ago and picked our pieces up yesterday. They have all sorts of things to paint - photo frames, variety of plates, cups, trays, piggy banks, dragons, skulls, bowls etc etc

Rose is who I dealt with by email and you can just drop in though. Rose gave us some sample prices:

breakfast plates: from chf 24 to 32
mugs and cups: from chf 28 to 41
muesli bowls: from chf 25 to 39
spaghetti plates: chf 36
spaghetti serving bowl: chf 89 (it's HUGE)
cake platter: chf 45

Do check the price of things before paiting - one small photo frame was more than we expected at 41 chfs but other things seemed very reasonable.

There are tonnes of colours and types of paint there and they have all sorts of stencils and tools to use to create patterns.

You do need to leave it there a week to be glazed and fired.

We had a blast when we did it.

btw, there is some parking outside and also a bus stop nearby - I have all the instructions for public transport so PM me if you would like that.
