| | Landal Parks - Walensee -- Ever been?
Hello,
We are interested is possibly staying at one of the Landal Parks in Walensee. Has anyone stayed at a Landal Park before or in Walensee?
We don't have a car so were wondering if everything is within public transportation? I know the train stop is right there at the the bottom of Flumserberg and next to the resort. I have searched for some hikes in Walensee and many look like you need a car to reach the trail? Is there hiking at the top of the ski mountain?
Any recommendations?
Cheers!

Been to Swissholidaypark.com with Landal and also to the Czech Republic. If you pick your dates you can get a really good deal. Good modern clean appartments, don't forget to take proper mugs for tea/ coffee, more dishwasher tablets and black dustbin bags. Other than that a top 'Dutch' company. Never been to Walensee - http://www.landal.com/ |

Walensee is just beautiful, take the train to Murg and take a pension or go to the camping site, you will not be disappointed. |

We decided to stay at the Walensee Resort and it was fantastic!! We were so impressed with the quality. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 level place with a spectacular view of Walensee. We rented bikes and went to the top of Flumserberg and biked down the mountain and through the town of Flums and then all the way back to the Walensee Resort along the lake. The next day we took the gondola back up to the top and hiked around and had lunch.
The resort has everything you need and was so clean. The kitchen in our apartment was fully stocked with all cooking utensils needed, etc. They were very baby friendly and we definitely plan to go to their resorts again!

Glad you guys have good things to say about the Walensee resort, we've booked a 3-day break there over the long Ascension weekend.
Apologies for re-animating old thread; at least I used the Search option |

Another nice hike is on the other side of Walensee, above the lake. You can get a bus up to Amden from Wesen at the bottom, hike up (or chair lift) to the high moor and around to Arvenbüel for the bus back down. www.amden.ch |

Hi, there are many beautiful places round the Walensee. Amden is lovely and its worth a hike to Quinten. http://www.fridolandolt.ch/ |

It's a 22km path, about 700meters of incline with Quinten pretty much in the middle. Not suitable for baby buggies or cyclists unless you enjoy carrying either uphill. Figure on a 6 hour hike or about a 2.5hour run.

We walked Weesen to Quinten a couple of weeks ago and there's a nice picnic spot with places to swim half way.

Just back from a fantastic weekend at the Walensee Resort. The resort itself is immaculate and well-run and we had an amazing 4 bedroom appartment overlooking the lake. We hired bikes for a half day and cycled to Flums and back (very reasonable; 150.- for 7 bikes and an "Anhänger", including reductions for Halbtax and GA holders). Also took the Gondola up to the ski area, where we did a short hike and had a go on the new Rodelbahn.
Great indoor swimming pool for the kids (and adults to relax) and a small beach on the lake.
The area itself is oustandingly beautiful, with the mountains dropping directly into the dark-green lake. Weather was almost perfect, around the mid-20s and we witnessed quite an impressive thunderstorm early Saturday evening.
Found the locals friendly and cheerful and the resort staff were helpful and informative. We were so impressed we've already booked for Auffahrt next year (for 12 this time) and may even head over there for a ski weekend in the Winter. Not sure what the skiing is like, but I hear it's a pretty popular destination for the Zürchers.
All-in-all, highly recommended.

After reading reviews, I am tempted to visit the resort.
Could someone please share the info regarding how to get the best deal ? Directly from the resort or via travel agents/websites ?
Thanks in advance
