Looking for a romantic B&B in France

After the debacle that was my 40th my wife and I decided to actually plan something nice. We considered Paris or Praugue, but the thought of dragging our 2 year old around a big city in the summer just didnt sound either fun or romantic. We came up with the idea of a farmstay or B&B in France. I had a look at a B&B site but the choice was a bit overwhelming not to mention a bit short on details...
So my question is, can anyone recommend a nice place in the French countryside for a long weekend within 400km of Zurich ??
Thanks in advance

Don't know if you play golf or not, but it doesn't really matter if you don't

http://www.bournel.com/
Fantastic romantic chateau within easy driving distance from Swiss border, extremely romantic (well, it was a couple of years ago and it still looks the same!). And now that the € is so cheap, probably well worth a visit!

Chataeu Divonne is delightful - close to Nyon - www.slh.com

Not cheap - but fantastic place to stay for a weekend

Perhaps a little less of the luxury and a little more of the rustic

Re: Looking for a romantic B&B in France

I have stayed many times in France, none were 100% OK!
Try this site? http://www.gite.com/gite.com/index.php

Does it have to be France? The Black Forest is very cheap with very friendly people http://de.holidayinsider.com/

We stayed here in Todtnau for a week in February, a really nice and professionally run small hotel. The owner is a pastry
cook and offers free coffee and cake at 4 pm. We had half board with good food, every evening a choice of two 3 course
menus. Many small farms nearby.
http://de.holidayinsider.com/unterku...ldbeschreibung

We also got the car fixed for half Swiss price in the nearby local garage. (new battery and catalysator for € 300 )
Indoor public pool, and a big lakeside public pool. Free public transport in the area, visit Freiburg using bus and train!
Guided tour of local church is recommended! http://www.black-forest-travel.com/todtnau/

Your wish is my command - complete with ensuite bathroom.

http://www.villamarstall.com/ - we stayed here when it just opened - and hadn't started doing breakfast. Lovely hotel and nice town to wander round

Romantic, rustic at high altitude, high level

I have a friend who grew up in Guarda and got married there. The place is just enchanting!

Nice. Does the scenic-toilet view come with an extra fee?
Its still nicer than my college apt. At least the bathroom looks cleaner...

The villa is in Heidelberg. I made the assumption that you believed you couldn't find somewhere nice and romantic in Germany - but you can.

If you insist on France - Beaune/Dijon is within your range (distance) - http://www.hotelphilippelebon.com/

Re: Looking for a romantic B&B in France

Have a look around here;

http://www.sawdays.co.uk/search/list...TypeColl=BANDB

We have found quite a few places from Allister Sawday's book and we've never been disappointed.

The free website only gives limited details, but it should give you some ideas.

JMSTASIK has no particular reputation at present
Re: Looking for a romantic B&B in France

I can't recommend a specific B&B, but Colmar is a very charming little city in France not far from Switzerland (about 45 minutes on the train from Basel SBB). The Little Venice area is beautiful.

Re: Looking for a romantic B&B in France

Ya, we looked at the website last night and tried to book a b&b Better try to confirm today as the receptionist only spoke french (funny that).
Added bonus is that it barely rates a mention in Wikitravel, so it must be good.
The town and surrounds look just perfect for what we need .
Thanks for all the helpful info guys, ef never lets me down
