Lake Geneva = "The Most Magnificent and Breathtaking Lake of the World"?

The ultra-reliable and objective website smashinglists.com has declared the wonderful Lake Geneva (known as Lac Leman to locals outside of Geneva) to be the Number 1 in their list of "The Most Magnificent and Breathtaking Lakes of the World." See the full list here.

Edit: The image from their site doesn't seem to be working, so how about this one instead:

I agree Lake Geneva is a very fine lake, and I enjoy much of what it has to offer (stunning mountain views, great vineyards, wonderful towns and cities along the shore, nice beaches for summer BBQs and swims, ...), but I'm not sure it would even be my favorite in all of Switzerland - Lake Walen (Walensee) is hard to beat for a setting, and Lake Luzern (Vierwaldstattersee) is also very impressive. Plus, some of the high mountain lakes have their own special charms. Here's the Walensee:

Anyone care to make a case for other Swiss lakes (pictures always help )?

The most beautiful lake in the world - Lake Como!
Switzerland has some very nice lakes, but none come close, Como has such charm and out of this world feeling about it..

Every day when I go for my walk, I just love the views and knowing that I am living in the most stress free part of Switzerland, so glad I left Zurich!

Lana - Lake Como was actually given third place in the list I linked to. However, let's try to stick to Swiss lakes here otherwise we could go all over the place.

Re: Lake Geneva = "The Most Magnificent and Breathtaking Lake of the World"?

For overall scenery I rate Lake Lucerne as number one. (First two pictures) Lake Geneva does manage to come up with some stunning sunsets though (other two)

I visited the Caumasee this summer and was surprised to see such a beauty here. Near Laax.

I totally agree with Deep Purple: Lac Léman does amazing sunsets. (Photo taken from outside my apartment in 2006, and is not photoshopped or colour-enhanced in any way.)

Re: Lake Geneva = "The Most Magnificent and Breathtaking Lake of the World"?

I enjoy the many facettes of Lac Leman (first picture): mediterrean Montreux (with palm trees) on the east; the beautiful vineyards of the lavaux between Lausanne and Montreux; the stunning view on the mountains from Lausanne; wonderfull La Cote with lovely Morges west of Lausanne; and on the very western shore resides the multi-cultural town of Geneva...

Another beautifull swiss lake is the Lac de Jeux in the Jura (close to Vallorbe). Small, beautifull, picturesque (last two pics).

Of the smaller lakes, Trüebsee above Engleberg is my favourite.
