Visiting Geneva with a native ?

As I've been guiding my german friend through Geneva this week, I had the strange idea that, perhaps,
who knows, some newbies in Geneva could be interested to do the same visit.

So just asking the question if there's some interest....

Just knowing that my English is far from being fluent, and that I would do it
on Sundays or on week afternoons with just a few people, from time to time and that it means walking and walking again.

I need first to open some books to make it more interesting.

Ok, pm me if you want to visit the town with me some time.

Some bit of fast historical tour with perhaps a few anecdotes.

(I'm slowly working on it)

Re: Visiting Geneva with a native ?

just bumping this.

With the great genevan's weather coming, and the fact I will be working in town everyday from the 1st of april, having my afternoons free, I start again to work on that idea.

Geneva is perhaps a small town, but it's history is great, linked across the centuries to countries like Germany, Italy, France and even Cyprus

I can recommend a tour of Geneva from a local person. I benefitted from such a tour many years ago from a relative who lived there and learnt a lot about the city and its history.

I think it is a brilliant idea Bertrand. Visiting a town with a local person adds so much to the experience, not only the history and anecdotes - but finding all the little side-streets, cafés or typical restaurant (a fondue at Grand Sac?), etc. Hope you find some customers.

Hope you will find new customers. Have you ever heard from rent-a-guide platform? I think the rent-a-guide idea is great.

Are you german?

I'm a native, so I'm not German...

lol

even if my family name sounds very German (no I don't speak German)

about the rent-a-guide plateform, it's a good idea, but I will never do it professionally, it's just for the fun.

Re: Visiting Geneva with a native ?

After a long time of abscence, I´d like to pick up this topic

I´m the friend who was guided by Bertrand during the visit through Geneva and I can assure you that it was absolutly brilliant!

Of course, before I started my visit, I prepared myself with tour-guides and street maps, just in case that a meet up couldn´t happen. I can say without exaggerating that Bertrand knows really VERY much about Geneva. Although we met everyday for hours, he always found something new and interesting to show me.

Yes, I love Geneva and I will definatly come back again!!

Thank you, Bertrand, and sorry for not keeping in touch the last time!!
