Re: New Swisscom Vivo Casa Packages

Cablecom wanted 7 weeks to install, Swisscom did it in 18 hours ... Case closed for me

Waiting for them to up me to 10mb, they said I could get 5mb immediately and they would up me end of the week - but seems their 5mb isnt really the usual 5mb

Re: New Swisscom Vivo Casa Packages

No cablecom in my area... We have another (more expensive, but probably excellent service) provider, but when I phoned them up, they said the building was probably not cabled for internet access (according to their database). The letting agency confirmed when I called them up. The building is about 20 years old (and has two analog cable sockets for radio and TV).

I was interested in Sunrise, and would have got a good deal, but I asked on here but never got an answer and also I wasn't impressed with the limited contact I had with their customer service (slow, incomplete, in a word bad but not terrible).

As Swisscom, no complaints. The contrary - the experience I've had with them has been superb (from the shops to the telephone support lines). I'd prefer to pay less, but at least with what I am paying Swisscom I recognise that I am getting outstanding customer service (when I need it). I would definitely recommend Swisscom to non-German speaking users in Zurich.

Re: New Swisscom Vivo Casa Packages

I have Casa Trio and I asked them could I stay on the current package. They sent me a garbled reply in English that indicated that I could stay on it as long as I wanted.

I don't even have a telephone, just needed the landline for internet access so paying 14chf extra a month for Swisscom Air makes no sense when it only costs 9.99 on its' own.

Just like Cablecom's 20mb isn't the usual 20mb:

Re: New Swisscom Vivo Casa Packages

Normally when telcos bring out new packages the subscribers on the old packages keep their current profile, i.e. they cant force you to change over.

Re: New Swisscom Vivo Casa Packages

Can anyone give feedback on the performance? I am looking for a provider as well but a bit hesitant going for Swisscom because they are broadcasting over the internet.

I am not really being naive, but BT in the UK offers similar service and it is awful. It stutters a lot.

Re: New Swisscom Vivo Casa Packages

the only thing thats lacks with SCTV is a bit in picture quality. other than that its far better than cablecom. HD is good if you can recieve it.the picture quality is something one has to live with until glass faser is available

No stutter. Works a treat.

As everyone has said here on this forum b4 Swisscom are pretty much a premium provider, their service is great but you pay a slight premium for it. If you can get Cablecom and want to save a few CHF per month but can also live with the dodgy support and possibly questionable hardware STB then go for it.

I personally use Swisscom and think it's great. If you are interested here is an offer that both of us can benefit from....

Swisscom TV recommend a friend - legit

Re: New Swisscom Vivo Casa Packages

I upgraded to the vivo casa 4 star package. I use the live record etc. a lot so it was my only option.

I am only moderatly pleased with the 20 meg internet.

That's the speed test I get just now. The TV box is off so it shouldn't be a factor. I'm guessing that's just the way it is with copper cabling

Anyone got any other ideas though? I do get the full speed sometimes though

Re: New Swisscom Vivo Casa Packages

Also if I go into 192.168.1.1 it says:

Speed
33056/11024 (kbps

So even if the TV is on an HD channel it shouldn't make a difference! I guess lots of people must be using the interwebs at this time

Excuse me, but what else is there than picture quality, that make Swisscom's TV so good? If the picture is crap, what is the advantage??

True, but apparently Cablecom have lousy service if/when something goes wrong. Just what I've heard.

In my experience the TV signal does not degrade with internet usage or vice-versa.
To be honest the service is friendly and they do try hard to fix your problem if it is a pure "software" or a configuration issue. It's just that they can be very misleading with regards to intervention by their technicians.

Basically during a "slow" period you can get on site aide in about 48 hours, but usually until the problem has existed for more than a week (5 working days) they won't put you on their priority list.

It's not like some companies where the support lines are not at all friendly or you feel that they are not trying to be helpful.

If you are connecting through a router try disconnecting anything else on the same router before doing the speed test. I did a test yesterday before hooking up a printer on the same router as the PC and got 20mB/s and today I did the same test (with a new router on line with a printer connected but not running) and I got 10mB/s.

Of course, it also may have something to do with traffic on their servers, etc as I did perform the 2nd test at "Prime Time".
