Fernsehgenossenschaft

Hello All,

I am hoping the tech savvies (and german speakers) can help me out on this one...

I have my TV, Telephone and Internet with Cablecom. All digital as far as I know, at least that is what the bill says.

In addition, I pay my Billag.

Now, I received a card in the letter box inviting me to pay CHF143.60 per year for "Fernsehgenossenschaft"...

Does anyone know what this is?

I found this page on the website of the Gemeinde:
http://www.widen.ch/umweltenergie/fgw.htm

But I dont understand what it is... My sense is that its for the analog signal, but I cant really confirm it...

Does anyone has any experience of this?

thanks in advance,

Motus

PS: I dont mind paying CHF143.60 - but I hate paying for things I dont need...

Re: Fernsehgenossenschaft

12 x 9 = CHF 108.00

What's the breakdown on your invoice?

On the website it says other Cablecom services are additional. Do you have additional services to telephone via Cablecom? It could be that.

Re: Fernsehgenossenschaft

Website in crude EN is here.

It could be a charge for communal triple play services - analog signals included.

An example of another commune's charges are here and here.

Re: Fernsehgenossenschaft

Precisely...

"The FGW is a partner network of Cablecom, so the analogue TV and radio programs transmitted in accordance with offer of Cablecom."

That's why I think its for the analogue service, but surely if I already pay 85CHF a month to cablecom, I dont have to pay anything else, do I?

I hate it...

Re: Fernsehgenossenschaft

I pay to Cablecom directly for their digital / internet services, AND the mandatory monthly analog signals charge which is already included in my rent fee.

EDIT: CHF24.95 per month

Source

and a link from Cablecom

Crumbs,

I have the combo digital TV+ digital telephone+Broadband.

I dont understand what this thing is... is it because we live in the "countryside" and the gemeinde had to lay out a different network?

Re: Fernsehgenossenschaft

Your Cablecom charge of CHF85 for digital TV, Digital Phone and Internet. However, all CC customers also pay a basic charge for an analogue basic service that has run for years - it's about CHF23.50/month.

The digital services were added on top of the analogue base. So it seems you pay your base cable rental to a local community cable service who also have a deal with CC for digital...
