I know that you can't judge a performance based on one innings (i.e. whithout having seen the other team bat/bowl), but really, I don't think England are going to win this one.
I wouldn't be so sure, 100 off 17 for no loss, KP and Strauss ticking along nicely.

Edit: 'cept KP just got himself out. Dickhead.

Although look at the stats:

Straus 58 off 47 balls
Pietersen 39 off 61 balls

If anything KP was holding the scoring rate up... now why can Strauss play like that in T20...?

However 100/17 = rr 5.88 per over = 294 runs total - unless I've got my sums wrong. Bit tight no? If I were Flowers, I'd expect England to be (mentally) aiming for 300+, i.e. finishing with 2-3 overs spare against a non-Test playing side. At this rate a couple of slow overs, a few wickets go down and it's backs against the wall time...

Remember they have a batting powerplay. Worth basically double the runs against shite bowlers

And its Flower not Flowers. GALLL

errr... <searches desperately for excuse> typo! It was a typo and I tells ya

EDIT: better excuse: sticky keyboard - I typed it when typing out Strauss and it delayed until I typed Flower. No. Really. I wouldn't have believed it possible either...

Yeah.....the powerplay is when the fielding restrictions are lifted for the batting team. First 5 overs is between 10-15th over and the last 5 can be taken at anything after that. Most teams use it in the latter overs nowdays, or when a couple of batsman are set and want to up the pace. Been like that for a while now (well at least the last 2 years... although maybe last WC....cant remember)

Im a stickler for names

Actually both the bowling and batting 5 over powerplays can be taken at anytime (well, at the latest, the last ten overs of the innings).

Anyhoo. England now 180-2, with a rr of 5.46, which is below the 6.55 required... squeeky bum time?

Am using espnplayer too. The stream quality is awesome and surprisingly there is no lag what so ever. I checked with folks back home to confirm that. I stream to my 32'' LED and it doesn't pixalate. Probably you need to change the bit rate in the player window to "High". I have a 20 Mbps connection, don't know if that matters.

MrFab, thanks again for the Fab link.

Can we start a discussion here...

For me this is India's world cup to loose! What do you all say?
Im watching the series online in my browser window.. I dont see an option for bit rate. Can you point me to the link from where I can download a standalone player? the quality is good just want to tweak it and maybe make it for wide angle

Bit rate option is available for streaming through espn player. You can get it on www.espnplayer.com but you will have to pay 15 euro for whole world cup and you don't need to download a standalone player for it.

Well more than usual, so you can always bank on that i guess

One thing I noticed early on is the minnow sort of teams like ireland, holland, canada, zimbabwe etc will always be more dependednt on their bowlers not their batters to cause upsets. I think any team nowdays have a bloke who can just swing the bat a bit, get the bowlers rattled and take it up to any opposition. But the better teams really rely on good consistent bowling to win matches. England looked like they had a poor day in the field, but they were always going to win against the dutch attack.

Thats why I think a team like the sethers, sri lanka or england might win this world cup. They have really good consistent bowling lineups and a decent batting order, whereas teams like us (Australia) and India lack something in the bowling department (india: a quality fast bowler and Australia: a quality spinner)

I cant get sky in my new place as its a listed building (no dishes allowed) and so I am desperate to be able to access cricket and rugby live via the interet.

This site : www.flashsportstreams.com (as mentioned above) looks good but a few questions:
  1. Is swiss internet fast (in the UK the advertised speeds are never the speeds you get in reality and buffering during live sport would be very annoying indeed)
  2. Is the picture fairly good quality ie: would it look ok on a 22 inch HD computer screen?
  3. Finally, do UK computers work in Switzerland (I was told this weekend in a London electronics shop that TVs dont work)
At least this thread has made me despair slightly less about not being able to get Sky Sports via a dish!

Thanks guys.
You can watch this with out any buffering
The picture is fantastic quality i link it up to a 37 inch tv
My old Pc used to work in switzerland

This site is my saviour as you can watch anything on it

JimmyBee,
Very good point about the minnows and the bowlers.

Yeah the indians have always missed the express pace but Zaheer has more than made up for that with his consistency and discipline. Also in the end overs we have the bowlers who can produce those yorkers at will even though not at the pace that a Steyn can generate. But if you remember 1996 the Lankans did it with their spinners and Jayasurya/DeSilva and some astute captaincy from Arjuna.

Yeah good point.

Out of interest, why is the hell is the world cup final going to be played at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai? It only holds 45,000! Eden garden holds double that.

Re: Where to watch live ICC world Cup Cricket 2011

1. I would still back the Aussies to eventually raise their game and make a serious go at the cup.

2. Sri Lanka and SA should be the next. SA, especially, should crack it this time. Imagine, with bowlers like Morne and Steyn and batters like Kallis, Amala, AB and the rest....

3. The side that fields well will win the Cup. And on this front Indians fall flat based on the evidence of 19th Feb.

4. I would put the Indians and the English in 3rd place in terms of favorites.

Now the most important thing: I hope Pick wicks in Geneva will be showing the India England game live on the 27th. Anyone knows? The 26th Feb Australia-NZ game should also be a cracker
