It appears to have struck me at home over an hour ago.
I am in Zürich city.
TV is ok. No 'net connection or 'phone connection.
No support number I can find.
Anyone got a working support number?
Anyone else having this problem?
UPC-cablecom.ch seems to be down also.

Mine died at 12:20 in Basel. Was working again by around 7am though. I was in the middle of doing some remote work so was pretty annoyed! I don't have any mobile internet thingy configured/working so just went offline.
This morning I checked the "network status" on Cablecom's page and it just says everything is fine. When checking for previous events there's no mention of last night.
The worst thing for me when it died was not knowing if it was my equipment or what. I guess I'll have to sort out my bluetooth modem tethering and get the mobile internet working.

Same here - phone & internet down last night, support tel not available. Internet came back 30 mins or so ago, but phone is still dead.
Oh well, we're still on our 3 months probational. And now that we've received the "B" booklets, we can actually go and get Sunrise to pick up the slack. Which I might do to later today.
Edited to add that it took some resetting modem/router as well here.

Down in Ticino last night from about 2400 to 0200+ (couldn't get to sleep)
Wasn't sure what the deal was because we've been having problems with the new modem that cablecom sent to us a couple of weeks ago. It keeps resetting itself and losing memory of its SSID and password. cablecom keeps insisting everything is fine....

Same problem here earlier, but now everything is working and back to normal. I noticed their tech support line is only available starting at 10.00 on weekends.

Finish: unknown
Cause: Power cut
Effect: Last night there was a power failure at the upc cablecom Otelfingen site.
Due to the power failure, services for the majority of Internet and telephony customers were interrupted. The power supply was restored after a few minutes and services have since been resumed gradually. Some telephone connections are still currently affected.
We are doing our utmost to remedy the situation and apologise for any inconvenience caused. | | | | | Internet was down until about 9.30 am this morning for us, but digital phone and TV worked OK...

Having been working lat most nights for the last few weeks, I can say CC have consistently been down most if not all nights for a few minutes , always starting at around 1am or just shortly afterwards. Last night sounds like a maintenance window that overshot/went wrong.

Their website, which may be lying, says all phones have been working since 12:30 this afternoon. I don't have a phone so don't know how they're connected. Whatever you have, power cycle it and see if it starts to work. If you haven't already, of course!

My internet has been working OK here in Bern. But today I got my TV "DigiCard" in the mail (decryption card that sticks into the PCMCIA slot of newer TV's). And I can't get it to "authenticate" (I guess contact Cablecom server and register my as a Digital TV subscriber). My analogue TV works fine. I called Cablecom customer support, and the guy said there is some spotty problems going on, and to wait until Monday and try it again. The guy sounded frazzled, he was a native German speaker but messing up words badly, so I figured something must be some bigger problems going on there.
Anyway, has anyone got a new digital TV subscription in the last few days and managed to authenticate it? Or is the authentication process not always immediate? I only signed up for it yesterday and already got the card in the mail today ( 59 digital TV channels for free, not a bad deal ) Well, assuming it works. But I guess even if it doesn't work, it's still for free. Is that still a good deal? |

I'm sticking with the analogue setup as I get the English language channels (all the BBCs, ITVs, Film4 etc) for 6 CHF a month. They don't do this package any more.
