How to receive Turksat signals

Dear all,

I want to install a satellite dish at my place and my wife is getting crazy with those big dishes, she wants me to install this rectangular shaped dish with a hidden LNB inside (I guess). Will it be enough for the Turksat broadcast? Can I watch the Turkish channels safely? Do you have any other recommendation? I will also love to watch ITV or English speaking channels. I'm also interested in Sky for example...

Thanks for the help.

Re: How to receive Turksat signals

Is Cablecom available to your house/appt. building.
For UK and other English language channels it offered me more than I would have got with satellite (when I investigated this several years ago), plus it offers 2 levels of Turkish channels -see link:

Re: How to receive Turksat signals

I believe you should be able to get some if not all of Turksat 42 east with an 80cm dish. What's the theoretical "size" of the self-sat "dish"?

Your westerly location may hinder you, I see some footprint maps which cut Switzerland in half.

I assume you can get a box or card for decoding the signals you will receive? I have no idea what encryption they use, I suspect Irdeto 2 and Cryptoworks.....but have no idea whether you can circumvent encryption

Have a look over here as to what you might get: http://www.lyngsat.com

http://www.turksat.com.tr/ should tell you which satelite to point your dish (box). Lyngsat link above also has good information. This should be helpful; http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/Turkey.html
