Cable TV alternative to Cablecom for certain towns

Here in our good city of Lausanne the local cable provider is, like in many places, wholly owned by the municipality. They chose back in the day not to be ruled by Cablecom completely and force people to use Cablecom boxes to watch Digital SD/HD TV. They came up with a technique that allowed them to restransmit Digital Terrestrial (called TNT in French, it's the DVB-T signal) over the cable network. So we now have 136 digital channels ( 6 720p ones) all for the price of basic cable subscription (25CHF/month)! This includes BBC 1 + 2 + 4 + HD, ITV 1 + 2 and best of all, Film Four and TCM (Turner Classic Movies). I hear that a number of Romandie cable providers are doing the same thing (they get the Lausanne stream I believe) including Morges, Renens and others. It's a lot easier than messing about with endless Cablecom boxes, or SwisscomTV. It won't beat satellite of course but for the price...

Talking of Digital Terrestrial, for people who are close to border areas with clear line of sight to the other country, an antenna plugged to your TV can allow you pick up various French, Swiss or German channels for free (apart from Billag of course). I get around 20 of them if I'm in the right bit of town. And they are often in "dual language / Zweitonkanal" as well. SF Zwei, TSR1 and RSI2 in particular show a lot of imported UK/US shows with this system.
