Recommended wireless routers with Cablecom Fiber Power

Hello,

I upgraded my Cablecom connection to Fiber Power 100. Just received a new modem from Cablecom... but I just realised the wireless router I had connected through an RJ45 cable to the previous modem is actually capping the bandwidth (it's probably not a N wireless router, it's actually an old ADSL wireless router from the UK). What wireless routers do you recommend using ?

I saw this one http://goo.gl/g5GI4 on Amazon, but Cablecom recommends to pick one which is compatible Draft N 300Mb/s - this Belkin one seems to be limited at 150Mb/s, still above the 100 I have.

Thoughts ?

Thx !

Re: Recommended wireless routers with Cablecom Fiber Power

I only have 20 mbits from CC (limitation in my building) and I am using a G router of 54 mbits and is capable of delivering the actual 20. The reason why they don't recommend the 150 mbit is that is the maximum speed in theory, which varies in reality. That's why getting a 300 mbit is wiser.

Re: Recommended wireless routers with Cablecom Fiber Power

Thx. I noticed the Belkin I considered was anyway not reaching speeds above 65Mb/s. I guess I would have to go for this one instead http://goo.gl/7ayAV : anyone else using different wifi routers that work well with Fiber Power ?

Re: Recommended wireless routers with Cablecom Fiber Power

No need to get a Draft N router. The standards have been ratified and there are now N Standard routers available.

Get a router to match your client's hardware. i.e. Belkin/Belkin, Netgear/Netgear.

When I got F100, they sent me a Sitecom Gaming router and a Sitecom USB client adaptor. They work very well together. I also have a WNDR3700 and a matched client adaptor. Both are best of breed and highly configurable.

To get the best of F100, you should really hardwire your client into the router via a CAT5 cable into the client and routers Ethernet ports. Wireless on F100 is a disappointing experience and does not get the full benefit of F100. It is bursty and laggy.
