After years as a victim of cablecom's legendary customer service I decided I couldn't take it any more and got sunrise takeaway. This has been fine - although not great, for the last two years. Now the contract is due to end and I plan on leaving CH in the middle of this year

This leaves me with no internet in the meantime, does anyone know of how I can get an internet service for 4-5 months? Most plans seem to be one year minimum

it is pre-paid, well aware but that looks like your only sollution without going back into a contract

is the 45CHF a one off or is that per month as well as the daily charge? Is there a data limit per month?

Its 45 including 5 days of internet at 5 chf per day.

Broadband speeds are good enough to be honnest, Orange has the offer also at 49 chf + 3 days internet

Data volume is unlimited according to Oranges site..

You can renew the contract with Sunrise. When you deregister from Switzerland the contract ceases: ask Sunrise support.

Mmmmmmmmmm, the best choice is the coop mobile simcard.

You will have the first three months free internet and then you have to pay 9 CHF per Month.

You have 100 MB full bandwidth and then it would be slow down to 64kb until the next month. Yes, I know it's not like cablecom but could be a solution for you.

Another posibility is to talk with some of your neighbours and explain your situation. You could pay 10-20-30 CHF and use his/her connection for these Months.

Swisscom offers mobile pre-paid for 39 CHF/month for 2GB transfer.
You can also talk to Your neighbours and ask if they would be willing to share their Internet access through wireless with You. Sometimes they agree...

Cablecom do indeed offer the same option, of being allowed to stop a contract when leaving the country (or moving to a location which they don't service), but they will really become annoying before 'letting you go'...

It will generally be hard to avoid the hassle, but a contract service is a much better one than any mobile card.

That's the best solution.
