I have a swisscom box (dvr), which let's me record all programs from TV. I wonder if it is feasible to move the video programs from swisscom box onto a laptop? What do I need?

This will be a great feature as I would like to watch tele while on the train.

Are there any easier/smarter ways of recording TV to laptop for offline viewing? I want to schedule recording programs in advance (not just live tv)

no, the swisscom iptv encryption is kept private by them unfortunately. There are no porting options I have heard of.

I was going to give this a shot as well. I'm not sure IPTV is encrypted everywhere, and I'm not sure the company really cares what you do with the signal. The main issue is how to get a second client (your laptop, probably VLC) to send the IGMP requests up to the server. If I get it to work, I'll let you know. For now though, I'm not in CH yet.

While I have nothing to offer on transferring your Box's recorded content to your computer, I suggest you check Swisscom TV Air out (a web- based Swisscom service that provides select features of the regular TV package on your computer) and see if that suits your needs.

Unless it has changed it's policy swisscom iptv is fully encrypted and public clients such as vlc are not sufficient. Good luck if you want to have a go though.
