TIVO with Swisscom TV?

I have an old UK Tivo that I've had for years, and no other DVR comes close for me in terms of ease-of-use. I love my Tivo, and it's been sitting in the cupboard waiting for the day I can get it up-and-running again.

My original thought was to hook up my old Tivo and Sky box, but I can't put a dish up on my building.

It looks like I can get most of the major UK channels via Swisscom TV, but I was wondering if anyone had managed to make the combination of Swisscom TV and Tivo work together? At the very minimum, does anyone know what kind of box Swisscom TV uses (eg, who manufactures it?)

Re: TIVO with Swisscom TV?

Never mind. I've just read on another site that UK Tivos will no longer be supported after 1st April.

Re: TIVO with Swisscom TV?

I would love to have Tivo here. The state of DVR software is really sad. I had a ReplayTV in the US, which was a precursor to Tivo. It was developed in the late 90's and the software was amazing compared to the junk out there now.

It could record any show that matched a keyword search, for any word in the description, actor, etc. Just the fact that people respond with "wow" to that nowadays shows how bad it is.

I would be interested to hear if others have found a good solution, such as the open source linux box solutions (Myth TV), Dreambox, or otherwise. Do they work with the full channel set from Cablecom or Swisscom or are there issues with encrypted channels, etc?

I just got my UPC Cablecom box and I was hoping things had gotten better. They haven't.

Regards,
Dan
