Re: iMac, Siemens Gigaset SE515 DSL Wireless+Cablecom UBEE modem-how to connect?

Judging from the manual here, I think the Siemens has an ADSL WAN port ie RJ11 phone like socket, not RJ45 Ethernet type socket which the Cablecom Modem requires.

The Siemens will have to be configured into Access Point Mode.

The trick is in the name. You have bought a ADSL modem which cannot be plugged into a cable (cablecom) modem. What you need is a wireless router and not a wireless modem. Put it back on eBay and get a wirless router (non modem type).

Contact Cablecom and tell them you need a WLAN router.

Re: iMac, Siemens Gigaset SE515 DSL Wireless+Cablecom UBEE modem-how to connect?

Type http://192.168.0.1 in the address field and hit Enter. The default username is "admin" and the default password is "password". This is for the Netgear. Nothing needs to be done at the Ubee Modem.

It might have been stated under the unit instead.

Re: iMac, Siemens Gigaset SE515 DSL Wireless+Cablecom UBEE modem-how to connect?

I also suggest after you are done with the Netgear Broadband router, you log in to the Netgear and change the credentials ie the username and password to something only you will likely know and recall at ease, as default usernames and passwords can easily be gleaned from the internet.

Better to be safe than sorry!

There is probably a reset button on the back. You might nees to hold it in for a few a secs. That should get you back to sq 1

Re: iMac, Siemens Gigaset SE515 DSL Wireless+Cablecom UBEE modem-how to connect?

i have pressed the red one, restore factory settings.
still nothing goes.

thing is:renamed the network to lets say granny smith.
then it was that defined a password like roma2010
and there were 6 blank bars where the system gave a
bunch of codes. then i tried to chose on the netgear site the password
interface but nothing happened? i refreshed the page and...boom. mess up.

Re: iMac, Siemens Gigaset SE515 DSL Wireless+Cablecom UBEE modem-how to connect?

If I were you, I'd use an ethernet cable from my PC / laptop and connect it to one of the LAN ports, fire up my browser and point to http://192.168.0.1 and use the default credentials ( your PC / Laptop needs to be in the same IP range eg IP address 192.168.0.2 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1 ).

If you really need someone to help you out, I might be able to come over tomorrow morning 8am for an hour or Sunday morning 10.30am for an hour to fix it for you ).
