| | Computer problem - is it easy fix?
Calling Weejem if you're around! But if not, can anyone else help? I'm in the UK at the moment, looks like a Trojan Horse tried to get into my laptop but it was stopped by my antivirus software. However, when I read the info it appears to have been JavaScript related and now I am noticing some websites (eg Easyjet, Skyscanner) do not load some content.
I am no expert so I am assuming that these sites load certain parts of their pages OK but others must have something to do with JS and are not loading. For example, on Easyjet the main page loads but when I try to get fares it just has the moving circle with 'one moment we are updating the fare calendar' but nothing happens. (Tried to attach that info but it's too big for allowed size).
I have hunted everywhere I can think of on internet options, add ons etc, but as I said, I'm not an expert so it's a bit like fumbling in the dark.
Hope someone can help, it's frustrating, and I need to book a fare!
Thanks heaps.

Try enabling Javascript - such sites might require their use. http://corporate.easyjet.com/site-to...spx?sc_lang=en JavaScript independence
Where JavaScript or other scripts are used for navigation or functionality, an alternative mechanism has been put in place in case your browser does not support these scripts.
This service makes use of Javascript, which appears to be turned off. Click here to learn how to activate it. Welcome to Ryanair's online check-in service.

Try clearing both your browser cache, and your Java cache.
If that doesn't work, remove Java and re-install.

Yeah, tried that, thought that was the best place to start. Also tried to update JS but got the message that I had the latest version (24 I think it was). Updates automatically on 10th of each month. I know it's going to be an easy thing....
And thanks jrspet, wondered if you might be out there somewhere too!

I thought after your mouse ball issue, you had left for France ...anyways .. is it possible to download an alternate browser like Google Chrome and try it out ? http://www.google.com/chrome/eula.ht...dalone=1&hl=en |

Also, consider running a 3rd party anti-malware program like Spybot Search and Destroy, to ensure there are no elements of the infection on your system. This is a good program, that I trust and use, but I have another freebie - IObit Security 360 (downloaded from CNet, on the back of another IObit program), that found elements of a previous trojan infection that I once had, still left in the registry, even after Spybot S&D had removed the main elements. Malwarebytes is another alternative.
I would certainly bear in mind trying the affected sites using another browser - it could turn out that there is a problem with EasyJets server.

Yep, spent a couple of months in France then back to the UK with a couple of trips to Basel in between. Back to Basel in July, looking forward to that.
Will try the latest suggestions. Easyjet still not playing ball....

Had already cleared the browser cache of all history, hoping that would work, but no joy. Have also now removed Java and installed V 25 which is the latest one.
Will go in and have another shot.....in fact, will close down and re-start now I've got V 25 and see if that works. Fingers crossed!

Can you guys get to the fare choice screen OK?
Will now have a go at EJ thru another browser and see how I go. Otherwise will download some of the suggested clean up sites!
Thanks for all tips and assistance, greatly appreciated.

In case you need to have something functioning quickly: download Knoppix from knoppix.org and boot that.
It's a bootable Linux-distribution that does not touch your hard drive and is thus immune to any virus on your hard drive.

Rest assured: it doesn't - never has ;-)
