how do i know which carrier someone is on?

okay i know of course that I could just ask them... but is there a way (a web site obviously) that can tell me whether a cellular number is with Orange/Swisscom/Sunrise etc??

Used to be easy back when 079 was Swisscom... now it doesnt say anything!

I have glanced through EOFCOM but it wasn't very helpful - perhaps you might get better luck.

I guess that with transferrable numbers there is no simple way of telling.

In answer to the title of the thread - they're not allowed to say - but I counted them all out, and I counted them all back again.

- "Doctor, I think I've got Hermes".
- "Don't you mean Herpes?"
- "No ..... I'm a carrier".

As DP said before, because of number portability any number can be on any network. Having said that I'm not sure many Sunrise or Orange numbers went to Swisscom in large numbers.

Re: how do i know which carrier someone is on?

okay, got it. here's what works on Sunrise at least .. haven't tried to see if it works on the other providers.

*109*<number>#

will tell you if <number> is on Sunrise or on another network

(Don't you just love the feeling when the answer to something you have wondered about on and off is finally revealed..??)
