internet in rental property in montreux

hi,

what is the deal with internet in rental properties in montreux?

as far as i understand there are two providers here, swisscom and cablecom, are there any others?

we currently have a thing which looks like this on the wall:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...cable_plug.jpg

there's also another connector, but i don't know what it is. it's not power, never seen one before, i think it has four holes.

looking for cheapest option, and also minimal contract hassle.

any suggestions welcomed!

The photo from the link provided is a standard Cablecom 3-way socket - 2 coaxial (TV and radio) plus 3rd for either Digital TV box or internet.

If the other one looks like this:

then that's an old outdated Swisscom telephone socket.

My internet provider (via telephone line) is Sunrise, who took over my previous provider - Tele2.

In rented accommodation (can't speak personally, tho') - you go with what's there.
If Cablecom is "live" (i.e. you have cable TV) and you have a standard phone line, then you can make your own choice. Use EF search to find threads relating to both providers and comparisons - but you're not limited to just these two.

Re: internet in rental property in montreux

thanks for this, yes i think the other connector is this old telephone socket. is this still useable for current swisscom services, or would they need to update it?

are all providers nationwide? i was thinking that some providers are better in certain areas?

so far i understand my three current options are:
cablecom
swisscom
sunrise

i just spoke with cablecom and we can get the basic internet package from them. he said it's a 12 month contract, but i couldn't understand what's the deal if we need to stop the internet before 12 months is up. does anyone have experience with stopping a contract before 12 months?
