cable with local provider, can I change?

Hi,
I'm not an expert of swiss tv and tlc, and before asking this I've tried to search in the forum but found nothing
the problem is the following
in the apartment i'm moving in there is a local cable company, glattnet, whose services are not exactly the top.
i called cablecom, before discovering about glattnet. and they told me that the address is not covered by their lines
so i wonder, is there no way that i get cablecom? can't glattnet like "rent my plug" to cablecom? thanks

Cablecom don't service every area, we can't get them either. Have you tried Swisscom? Their TV service is pretty decent by all accounts.

Re: cable with local provider, can I change?

does swisscom have cable as well?
correct if i'm wrong:
we make vivo casa *** (that's the italian name, i mean, the package with tv phone and internet for 125 chf). we still have to pay 25 franks for the cable (but i think it's included in the rent), we get the decoder, but only one for every tv
i wonder, since it's tv via internet, is the quality good?
we can have 20 mbs max

I agree with Lou that you should look at Swisscom TV. I have their combined telephone/Internet/TV package (Casa Trio) and am very happy with it.

You can then unsubscribe from your local cable network, who will send someone round to block the cable TV socket in your wall. You don't need this with Swisscom TV as the TV connection uses the telephone socket and router.

Very good, yes, and the number of HD channels included in the package is increasing.

Re: cable with local provider, can I change?

but in this way we get only one tv with swisscom tv and if i want a private tv in my room i can't
what about times? i mean, from the day i call swisscom to the day i'm online, how long?
and will the plug used for phone the one on the "cable box"?
and doesn't tv limit the bandwidth for internet?

edit, new question:
i've seen that tv box needs an ethernet connection to the modem, so i guess would me meters and meters of wires...

I think it took about three weeks for them to send me the modem/TV box and activate the service after I called them. But that was three years ago and in a different part of the country, so I would not vouch for that timeline. Not sure about multiple TVs, as I only have one. I'm sure someone else will be able to answer this though.

And yes, you will need cables. Basically you connect an Ethernet router (supplied by Swisscom) to your phone socket, then you connect your TV box and computers to the router. The amount of cable you will need depends on where your hardware is in relation to the phone socket. The cable that they supply to link the router to the phone socket is very short - about 1.5 metres. But I assume you can buy a longer one at Interdiscount if needed.
