Re: Fixed IP Address with Cablecom?

The older routers ( WRT54GL ) and 3rd party firmwares are nevertheless useful - currently working on a low cost linux in a box customised hotspot ( much like Fonera ) set - limited free bandwidth, DDNS and advertising with strong external RPSMA antennas for non-profits.

Re: Fixed IP Address with Cablecom?

I found this interesting solution, looks likea PHP script that takes the updated IP address from DynDNS and enters it into your GoDaddy A-Name:

http://www.stanback.net/code/godaddy-dyndns.html

...but where is this script placed and how is it run? It gets put in your home router in the area where DDNS is located?

Well , if it is a PHP script, install PHP on your web server, and run it via the command line, or schedule it on a regular basis...

Re: Fixed IP Address with Cablecom?

Not sure what Cablecom is like, but I found Sasag to be unreliable for hosting. Now and again, they turn off the service for several hours for maintenance.
