The kexboard is Swiss German, althrough I selected that at start up with English software. I am unable to delete the English keyboard & it keeps reverting from CHD that I keep selecting, rather annoyimg.
In the language options, you can delete the English Keyboard.
Just make sure you have not selected this as the current setting in the dropdown above the list of languages.

Re: Unbelievable - brand new Samsung i5 laptops at 399 CHF from Interdiscount.

When I selected EN from the Language Bar I found I couldn't access the "@" symbol (normally "Alt Gr 2" or Ctrl+Alt +2), and had to revert back to DE (which it seemed to want to do itself, anyway. It seems to make no difference.

On a side note:- is anyone else (who purchased this) having problems getting M$ software up-to-date using Windows Update?.

Understandably, there are many outstanding updates, since the OEM software was originally installed - I've had over 70 - and had to reapply a few because some of them failed first (or second) time around (2nd time of trying after a problem necessitating a system restore).

I'm up to date, bar one - Service Pack 1 for W7 (quite important methinks) - had problems with download; when that worked out, then installation; and after that seemingly went OK, I'm now having problems with it fully loading after re-start.
It gets to the point where the "Shutting Down" screen appears, with the revolving activity circle, and there it stays .... and stays .... and stays.

Will probably end up having to do what I did last time, and do a cold shut down, resulting in a failed installation.

How's anyone else getting on - any tips?

You need to set the German (Switzerland).

Weeeellll...true, but still.
The thread has run its course.
Mistake made by ID, some got benefit, some didn't.
Either the mods should close the thread or we can keep talking about the post-buying topics.
In any case, when I can, I try to help.

Yeah well, you need to select German-Switzerland and not German-German or GB-German. I had to try a few until it finally worked.

It did hang on me once while restarting during the updates.
I let it hang for a while before I just cold-booted the system and then it worked fine.
Today, I will give some games a go.
I am not expecting much with the 310M, but it should be able to run the old-ish games without problems on medium res.

I have tried to delete the English keyboard, that does not work, it's auto changing back to English every time I open a new programme.

Can you post a screenshot of the language options screen ?
What happens when you delete the English Keyboard ?
Do you get a message ? Or is the remove option disabled ?

Ok remove is disabled, when I try to remove the English keyboard however I found the problem, Input launguage default must be Swiss German, I had English selected. Windows 7 is just too clever

You should be able to create a custom keybord with SG layout and English language.

Set that as the default. Save it. Then go back into the settings and delete the current settings so that it doesn't keep changing.

Changing the input launguage default fixes everything, on earlier versions there was just a keyboard default!

No ... I'm fine now - on DE (Switzerland) and have no problems - it was only if I manually changed to EN - which I won't do anymore (makes no real difference). Reverse situation to fatmanfilms, as I selected DE(CH) on startup.

Also did a hard shutdown, after well over an hour of not ending - seemed to install OK on re-start, and have since also had success with one update (KB2547666) that had failed at least 3 times before - probably because it contains the mark of the beast.

Reported there were no more updates, until I re-ran Check .... , and it still found 2 more for .Net Framework - it seems never-ending - up to about 80 by now - and that's without checking Flash, Shockwave, Java, etc.
