Mexican Vaio Laptop screen ..kaput

Hi

I been having problems with my laptop screen, i know for sure that is the lcd screen ( i open the laptop myself and search for the problem)
is a vaio vgn cr206f .. is 4 years old but appart from the screen it was working great

My questions are, where can i get a replacement screen, i have been searching in the internet (e-bay .. ricardo) but i will prefer to talk and deal with someone who knows better what he is doing, or buying. Like a small bussines or something like that

I also want to know if there would be any significant differences between the replacement part coming from here and the original coming form mexico

and my last question is, would it be advisable.. regarding the cost of the replacement .. or should i look for another computer... it could be a netbook .. is only for my personal use (you know.. waste time in the internet)

I only need to get the replacement, i can install it myself.

Maybe it just needs a nap? See how it does mañana.

But if you really want to fix it, I would say don't. 4 year old computer; you can Ebay it in it's present condition and probably come out ahead over sourcing a screen and installing it. If you are attached to it find another of the same model and scoop it up, make that your computer and keep the current one for spares (hopefully it isn't the screen that goes out on the new one ).

4 year old C2D laptops with a faulty screen is hardly worth finding a significant replacement part especially with competitive prices for new ones. Apart from connecting an external display via VGA etc., I would say Adios to it and look ahead, possibly an Acer Aspire One 721 or like series ( AMD CPU 4GB ).

You should check Interdiscount or Fust. I think there are quite a lot them in Zurich so you should be able to find one near you.

http://www.digitec.ch/ Probably overall the best prices and selection. You can order online and then pickup and pay

If you want a bricks and mortar store then Media Markt at Sihl City, or the Interdiscount XXL on Sihlstrasse, just off Bahnhofstrasse should have enough models on display. Also the Fust Eschenmoser on Birmensdorferstrasse is good. Trams 14 and 9 stop directly outside it at the Werd stop

I used to use an external USB QWERTY keyboard with a QWERTZ laptop ( Linux, Win7 etc . ). I got them from EF.

Re: Mexican Vaio Laptop screen ..kaput

that sounds like a good idea, but i can get use to change the place of the z for the y .... besides i like to write lying on the couch or the bed .. so the keyboard would get on the way of my lazyness

on the other side if i have to writte something more important and stand in the computer for several hours would be a good idea to have the extra keyboard
