160 channels and no rugby this weekend

Hi,

I'm just ranting, Cablecom boast about 160 channels on their cable TV service and yet none of them will show me the tri-nation rugby on this weekend!

I guess the games will be on BBC or ITV in the UK? If so, download Zattoo for free and watch for free

At the moment, what with Sky buying power, any sport shown live on BBC and ITV other than those that have to be shown free-to-air as per law, and Formula 1, is by definition not worth watching .

Just as well the Rugby World Cup will be on French TV.

Not sure if any pub will show it though, I went to Mr Pickwick's website and they say

Due to continual changes in broadcasting rights we would please advise you to contact your local pub to confirm that your match is being televised "live". Thank you for your cooperation.
Plus, it would be at like 9 in the morning here, doubt any pub is open then.

You can also get Sky. Knowing someone in the UK who could register this for you would greatly assist in the matter. If not, there are other opportunities to order Sky.
Tri-nations, world cup and the 6 nations (in that order) are the top three reasons for me having Sky and a complicated setup of VOIP adapters.
Tri-nations has to be the greatest sporting event on the planet, it's utterly magnificent, especially last year's.

I've watched a tri nations match in Paddy Reilly's in Zurich before. I assume this one and the one in Basel will show it. I don't know Berne good enough to suggest anything but I fear you'll have a long journey in the morning ahead of you or you can start looking for a decent website which will stream it.

Re: 160 channels and no rugby this weekend

Paddy's in Zurich is your best bet, just give them a bell, there should be someone to take a call from after 10.30am mon - fri. They've been open the last 2 years from Tri Nations, even the early games from NZ.

Don't think Paddy's Basel will, no idea about Bern but there normally wouldn't be a huge demand there from what I gather.

a) it will be 1200hrs here on Saturday (but yes, they typically do open early for those subsequent 0930 matches too)

b) The next line on the Pickwick's page says

Quote:
Sat 23 Jul 12:00 Australia v South Africa

So there you are, you're sorted

Re: 160 channels and no rugby this weekend

I wnet on Paddy's website and saw they have one in Fribourg: http://www.paddys.ch/fribourg/

Might be worth phoning up to ask?

What I've also saw is that Swisscom TV offers the Canal+ channels: There you'll have more Rugby. I saw they're showing the game in the evening and also have the rights for the French league and think the Southern hemisphere league as well. I thought about it but for 55 Fr/month I didn't feel it was worth the money. Looking forward to when I move flats and am able to get Sky.....

Does that include the French channels? TF1 / France2 / France 3 ... one of them always shows the Rugby games.

I doubt if they would open especially for Tri-Nation games, but I'll bloody make sure they do for the RWC

Another option might be www.myp2p.eu. Sometimes you get pretty acceptable quality live streams.
